The Yellow Top in my 2006 Prius lasted two years (purchased from Optima web store). My bro who has the car now just changed it to OEM Toyota battery. Never again with Optima.

 

I went to buy a 12v battery for Prius c two, and at the dealership they first gave me a battery that is in a sealed box with a label "not returnable when opened". The new battery is part number 28800-21181. On the invoice, the cost was $320. Is this is the right battery for my car? I have a Prius C, Two, not plug in, with a standard key (not Smart-key).
I wonder if this battery is for a plug in model, and if it will work for my car. And should attempt to replace it myself or take it to the dealership. They will charge me extra $200 to install this new battery.

 

Did you get an answer if d51 can be used or not?

 

Old post I know. Just thought I'd chime in here for a current (April 2019) reference, in case someone is searching. I can attest that Toyota part number 2880021171 aka S46B24R aka 0054421171325 , fits a 2008 Prius with smart key. This is my second replacement battery (and second S46B24R). Car is 11 years old and as of today has 160k miles on it. I'd also like to comment that when this battery died (today), it completely gave up the ghost with no warning i.e. completely dead, left me stranded at a restaurant, no resuscitation. I'd like to add this is the first time in 11 years that this car has left me stranded. My bad for not replacing this battery much much sooner. So today I paid $211 plus tax. Install is relatively straightforward. Plenty of YouTube videos out there on it. Did not need more than a socket wrench with 10 mm socket and a couple of extensions. Also used a 10 mm box wrench for the negative terminal and had a flat blade screwdriver handy to pry off plastic connectors, etc... Also keep in mind, you can open the hatch with a dead battery. There is a handy little flap below the hatch latch (on the car side, not the hatch) that when removed reveals the override lever. Plenty of info on that as well. So no worries here. This is still one kick @ss car and I'm happy to own it and let it keep on ticking. Photo of new battery attached.
