For a Toyota, gen3 Prius are undoubtably the worst in thirty years. Bad rings, inverters and brake boosters combined with the expected hv battery after 150k miles make a high mile used car gen3 a bad bet for a budget conscious buyer. It is especially bad when a high market is getting x2 the price of four years ago, flippers will rollback odos and use temporary head gasket sealers, most hybrid parts have no aftermarket options and many areas have few independent mechanics who will work on them.

so you are saying dont do a headgasket myself if needed..dont check the coil pks or injector's. if i sell this good running 200k car for 4000- i must pay $3000 more to get someone's else's junk in philadelphia. cars are so hi here...let me play along. i put say a new head gasket and water pump.. $600.
    replace rebuilt battery 1000
used invertor and abs unit if needed. still the car will be ok as per getting another car. body seats overall cond good. so you think its better to dump this toyota??????????????

You asked if these cars were bad. I mentioned the issues. Including what flippers do to unsuspecting buyers. In your case you are trying to flip the car.

No I am not flipping it I am an uber driver who wants to drive the car. Only problem for me it's alittle old at 2011 and at 61 alittle to small but if any positively of the car. I will keep it. Body good. Suspension good . Clean interior. This forum has got me worried about the car.
Please reply as worst case if I want to keep it 1 year.
I am not a flipper. I am an owner.
I worked for Toyota a few years in Florida.
Had at least 5 of them. 2nd pruis.
    1st was an 08. I got to sell. 308k .
Can you put a pros and cons to keeping it....I been earning money with this car since the day I got it June cost $5400 plus . Plus
    Normally $3000

The part no's for Toyota gasket kit (includes head gasket, and pretty much everything else pliable in the engine), and the head bolts, is noted in the attached.

Also not: the last link in my signature is the full engine section of the Repair Manual. (on a phone turn it landscape to see signatures)

I have no idea. I noticed it took a while to go from 2 bars to 3, then quickly went to
3, then 4. And quickly went from 3 to 2 bars.
This was one of the issues of the battery getting weak. So I purchased the Prolong system.
And it worked for me. It was well worth the money, for me. The battery is 14 years old and
    still working.
I know it won't last forever, but it sure hase extended it's life.

    Hey,

The Prolong systems don't require you to remove the battery. They come with a harness that plugs right into the OEM fan and the positive and negative terminals on the battery. It takes a couple of hours to access the battery, install the harness, and put some of the interior back together again but after that, it's a pretty easy product to work with.

I have to disagree, it won't take a few hours to install. Less than an hour.
It would be nice if the cable was about 12 inches longer though.
It's just long enough to attach to the charger and discharger. The extra foot
    would help a lot. (y)

The instructions will tell you what to do.
After it's installed, you plug in the charger and fully charge the battery.
Then unplug it and plug in the discharger, select the 1st cycle and start the
discharger, then charge, discharge, charge, discharge, then charge.
Mine averaged 4 hours for each part, with the longer discharge then charge
cycles each taking a littler longer. If you keep an eye on each cycle, you can
do it in 2 days, but 3 is more realistic.
