Priusmouse: Thanks, I wasn't picky on color, just said anything but black for any "rejects" at the dealership and the color is growing on me. I secretly was hoping for red or blue, but liking this color a lot. ColoradoCrow: Sharp eye! Yep, and as you know, that path gets a LOT of traffic, so seemed a good showoff space! Since retiring I fly a lot less and drive to places a lot more now and not missing airports much at all! Blizzard: Wow, that is a LOT of sightings. Prime or not. BTW, I STILL have not seen another Gen5 of any kind yet!
Haha welcome, yes i was hoping for a white or blue myself but it looks like i will be getting silver as well…hoping it grows on me too lol i have seen it about 5x here on Long Island, most in white, I guess those are the folks who snapped up the white ones i wanted lol. Honestly I wish it were a little more popular, but I guess the car will feel “unique” for some time
It is popular, the problem is there just aren't enough units, which does mean yes it will be unique for a while. But they are selling like hotcakes.
I just saw two within two minutes—a silver one on the freeway and a gray one shortly after I exited. Observations: This is the first time I got a thorough look because the freeway traffic was stop-and-go, and I managed to see it from all angles. It still looks just like a Prius—hard to mistake it for any other car. It looks best when viewed from a perpendicular angle from the side—in fact very good—where it looks like a high-end sports car with its large wheels and the way its body slopes. It does not look good from any other angle—in fact it is probably the worst-looking Prius from all other angles except when viewed perpendicular to the side. Overall, I am not impressed by the looks at all, and I wouldn't choose this car based on looks only. Then, as I said, I saw a second one and also managed to take a picture:
Starting to see more 2023 Prius' (Prii?) in my area. Went out to my car (Wind Chill Pearl SE) and saw a Cutting Edge SE parked across the way. Perhaps it was the same Cutting Edge I saw earlier that day? I may never know...
The gen 5 is amazing. Everyone compliments me on it. No one has ever complimented me on my car ever. Sorry, Gokhan, but you seem clinically insane or willfully blind on this one.
Pretty sure the gen2 was receiving comparisons to the CRX when it was new. I personally compared it to the Aztek, and I owned one. Wanted a CRX. Looked like a fun little car.
Be it resolved: each gen has been polarizing, owners rally in defense, and in deriding the previous gens. Gen 3 kicks butt, by the way...
99% sure one rolled by this afternoon, on the way out of our cul-de-sac, as I was preparing for a mow*; it was sleek and black. * mostly just levelling of the weeds, the lawns are pretty much hay around here.
i wouldn't say this gen is polarizing as far as looks are concerned, but you'll never get 100% consensus
I've seen 3 XSE Premiums now at the same metro Denver dealership, silver, gray, and white. I'd love to see one in blue
Saw a white gen 5 on the road the other day. My second one I’ve seen in the wild. It’s really nice in white, it was surrounded by a few other white cars but it jumped out immediately.
I've seen a bunch fleet (ConEd) around NYC. They're white, but covered in company garb. There are also a few rental units rolling around as well. Those are the darker colors though.
I've seen the reservoir blue. It is not a nice shade of blue—too dark, yet not dark enough to be considered navy, and no shine or dazzle.
Do you mean it is not metallic? Yes, i thought it was a little bit off compared to other years’ blue, a little too electric-y
