Carson Toyota (in California) has a Habenero Four with 15" wheels and a Sunroof. Road Trip!

Total BS! I have a Three with those exact options but in Magnetic Gray, and with the pretty well unavoidable $225 floor mats the MSRP is $23,860.

Have you considered using one of the buying services?

 

It sounds like it's time to move on to another dealership. That salesperson has wasted enough of your time with frustration.

I'm not sure which one you talked with, but, from a generic search on autotrader.com with 100 mile radius from the Atlanta area, I found:

"Sand Mountain" Toyota has 1 habanero but no price,
"Marietta Toyota" lists 3 Prius c's, upper prices, so might be trim 3+ but the colors are listed as numbers, so...?
"Team Toyota" lists 1 habanero, (by the price, it is probably a trim 1),
"Team Toyota Mall of Georgia" has 1 habanero, maybe trim 2?

Mighty slim pickin's... Expand your search from a 100 miles to 200 mile radius. Remember that just because a car is listed doesn't mean they have it, but you will have some dealer phone numbers to call ahead. Hopefully there will be another dealer/salesperson who knows what the heck they are talking about...

After all, you'll be spending your hard earned money and a lot of time in the vehicle and you'll likely own it for years as well. IMO, it's worth a drive (or the wait for an order) to get the color and trim level that you really want.

I think most car dealerships have always been this way - ignorant, lazy, and unpleasant to deal with. Twenty years ago the average consumer was just as ignorant, so there was no incentive for dealerships to change. Now Internet savvy consumers are much better informed than the dealers. With time those poor dealerships will either change for the better or go the way of the pay phone. Good riddance when they are gone.


cwerdna is right, the Prius C is officially a compact, but that wasn't my point. The C is far smaller than a Tundra. That can be a disadvantage in traffic. However, the C is by far the easiest car I have ever parked in a tight space. I laughed the first time I parallel parked mine. I still laugh every month when I fill it with gas. Small isn't always a bad thing.

The Fit and Matrix would still be worth a look for their cargo bays. I bet that same uninspired salesman would offer a monster deal on a Matrix. Two trips in a Prius C will still use more gas than one trip in a Matrix or a Fit.
