You either play around a lot with your PIP or you get really deep into the manual.

No...I just discovered this by plugging in to the car first. LED came on. When plugging into the wall first it didn't. Then I just pressed the latch button and noticed that the LED went off. No reason to not want to save 1/2 watt or whatever.

CharlesH, you will appreciate this: A European automobile manufacturer used to call these symbols "idiograms".

Can we have anymore input on this tire inflation? Whatever the dealer put in my Prius is what I got now.. Never check it. Should I?

Religiously if you care about tire wear, mpg, and safety!

Set them at 38/36psi at the coldest part of the day and you should be fine. Check it monthly at least. Readjust pressure as summer sets in. Remember, pressure is affected by air temp. Pressure changes by 1psi for every 10F change in temperature.

Some of us set them even higher...up to 44/42 psi.

It should be noted that the tires are generally rated for 50 psi. This means 50 psi with a gauge that is off a little and when cold, then you drive for many hours in desert heat so the actual psi is much higher than 50 psi.

In the summer if I am going to drive on a long trip I lower the pressure 2-3 psi. If I'm in 100F heat driving far I also check them when getting gas.

Most of the OE Prius 15" tires are rated at 44psi cold. One of the Fuel Max tires (H rated) is rated at 51psi.

Pretty sure the reason they do this is not PC (I mean, really???), but cost savings. With pictograms, they can have the exact same levers go into every car worldwide.

The UK PiP has different modes to the US one. We have Eco, HV/EV and EV City modes. No Power (although that's on regular Prius).

Oh and hi from the UK!

    Hello.

We'd like to know more about the EV CITY mode.

We got the impression it offered even more power than regular EV mode here but the tradeoff was a slower max speed.

I'm not sure that's correct based on my experience. I think neither of the UK EV modes offer your top speed in the US - my tipping point is an indicated 58mph (true 54 or so) at which point the ICE cuts in. Whether we get more power on demand than you do as a trade off, I don't know, but doubt, TBH.

Interestingly, this is higher than Totota states - they say 51mph, but quote the same EV range. Here's the UK-spec brochure with our single trim level, which seems to be a hybrid of yours, if you'll excuse the phrase: http://www.toyota.co.uk/bv/leads/pdfFiles/rc66534.pdf

AIUI the EV City mode just allows you to use wider throttle openings before the ICE kicks in - certainly in EV City the initial liveliness very soon gets suppressed and gaining speed over say 45 is soooo painful that you'd want to change mode anyway. A sharp jab on the throttle will override and cut in the ICE, though - it's just much harder to do than in regular EV.

As I understand it, "City" mode is there to allow the PiP to be used in "zero emissions zones" in some European cities.

right, and so it lets you "floor" it harder than plain EV mode without kicking on ICE. I really wish we had this mode instead of the power mode.

When you first boot the car, you can't change the radio volume for a couple of seconds even if you can already hear the music. So when the music is too loud, you actually have to wait around 3 seconds before you can begin to lower the volume. My Gen II Prius was responding much faster to the volume button during the Prius boot sequence.
