My old card had the number 8627147200 on it, but it was the old software.

This is the part number I got from my local Toyota Dealer, but I’m having a hard time getting any info on it. Dealer only knew it was labeled as a ‘17 version.

I use Waze on my phone. With realtime updates from other drivers it's the best.

Getting a complimentary card from my dealer in a week or so. This, I assume, is owner installable?

The sales person installed mine but received an error and brought the car to the service area. It only took a few minutes. I don't know what was needed but it is working fine now. The sales person had a hard time getting the card in so I suspect it was not seated properly.

Thanks. The service rep I’m working with said procedure is basically installing card, turning car on, and letting it sit on for the 15 minutes or so it takes the new maps to install. I’ll report back on my results.

Not sure - I’ll post the date on my card when I get it from the dealer.

Per post #4 above. . . . My vehicle was built August 20, 2017 and has Map version 05-37-51 Dated 2017-04-01

In the past, new versions always came out in late fall. Nobody knows if this is still true until somebody gets a new one and post the info. There's some evidence they may have been releasing them during the year as well, but we don't know if that's only for vehicles coming off the line like mine.

PS, change your vehicle type in your user profile.

Absolutely. It's just an SD card. It's sort of hard to see since it's under the dash lip. Use your phone or a mirror to look at it first. It also has a different sort of card holder as compared to other Toyota NAV SD card slots I've seen. It has lips that stick out instead of just a card slot hole.

Vehicle must be off when you remove and insert.

It also will probably have the most recent Entune firmware update on it which is nice. They've been doing that for about a year or so.

Picked up the map update today. Haven’t had a chance to install and see what date it reports. Attached are images of the card and packaging for reference.

So, help me out here before I break something. Attached is a photo of what I see. I don't see an obvious way to grab the card (it's recessed beyond the point where there's anything to grab). Is item highlighted with a red arrow something I use to eject the card? Is it push in like a button or slide like a lever? Thanks.

Have you tried pushing the card in and seeing if it pops out? There's no eject hole or other mechanism, so that's the only logical way I can think of.

Thanks. Trying to push it in to pop it out was my first move, but I didn't find enough of the card sticking out to push. So, I briefly thought of using a pen or other object to push it, but that's when I got into "better stop now before I break something" territory.

No cost to me - I convinced my salesperson to comp the card for me because I bought the car with 10-month old maps. But if you have to pay, I think it's $179.

I've got your solution with pics. Give me a few minutes to download pics and write it up.

I'll try to write this so it makes sense to everyone. Note, the number printed on the outside of your new card (86271 47201) is the same that's printed on the outside of mine. My vehicle was built August 20, 2017 and has map version 05-37-51 Dated 2017-04-01. Once you install yours, we can compare.

(All, do this with the car powered OFF)

OK, for those that don't know, this Micro SD card is underneath the bottom shelf of the 11.6 inch display. If you could put your head on the floorboard and look up, you'd see it. Keeping that location in mind, all my pics were taken sitting in the driver seat using a mirror to see underneath this lip, shelf, whatever you want to call it.

There is a plastic cover to protect the card. It accounts for the slots you asked about in your pic above. Just push in on the passenger side and the other end will open slightly. You can let it dangle or safely remove it.

What makes this difficult is the top of Micro SD card is inset below the level of the plastic. Yes, it is installed in the slot in the pic below.

You will need something thin like a sharp tooth pick or a fine point ball pen. I had to use the mirror to get the ball pen I used to center on the card to push it up. The slot is fairly wide, but the card is only 1mm wide. Be gentile and careful not to damage the slot. It was hard to keep the pen centered on the card only.

Once it ejected, it did not fall out. I used a pair of tweezers to gently grab it as it does not eject very far. Note the orientation as to the way it comes out to put the new one back in. The side with the Toyota logo faces you and the bare pins face the front of the vehicle.

Just put the new one in the same way, except I used my fingers to insert it and then used the mirror and the pen to gently push it in. You can feel it seat and the bottom is spring loaded. If it doesn't go, don't get a hammer. Take it back out and make sure the bare pins are facing the front of the car.;)

Replace the cover. Start the car and let the map come up. If it doesn't load, you either didn't get the card seated or put it in wrong. Shut it off and start over.

Note, if the card you're putting in is newer than your old one, it will probably want to update your Entune firmware. They started bundling the firmware updates on the map cards a year or so ago.

Tools I used were my wife's Clinique mirror (ask permission first), tweezers, fine point ball point pen, Lux-Pro LP290 LED flashlight. Failure to use these professional technician tools may yield different results.;)

Again, my SD card has # 86271 47201 printed on it. My vehicle was built August 20, 2017 and has map version 05-37-51 Dated 2017-04-01.

PS, this won't work unless you have some dust on your console like I do. ;)
