MY11 Prius

That is what i have heard, but Prius V have DIFFERENT parts number for shocks AND springs. If you look in the parts computer, then you will see that there are TWO separate parts number for both shocks and springs based on RIM size. This was why i asked. In Japan, there is apparently a "Touring " suspension for 17" rims, which is different than the standard suspension in the 15" rims.

 

For the acronymically impaired, shouldn't it be called (AGPS)?

 

Yes, but for the dyslexic, maybe it's "Advanced Parking Guidance System". (And I just looked it up. It's the description, not the acronym that got switched around.)

And imagine how confused people would get if it was called "A GPS".

No complaints here about the 2011 not being drastically different. Makes me feel good about buying a 2010.

 

I understand...BUT, why the different parts number for shocks AND springs based on RIM size??? If all Prius have the same suspension, then should all have the same parts number? It is just not that the shocks are different, but the springs also???!!! I encourage you guys to check what i have said...it is true! Weird!

 

Interesting to see the 2011 changes. I know I am in the minority, but I actually like my Gen II Prius better then the Gen III. My 2007 Pkg 3 gave me everything I wanted without paying for one thing I did not want. To get everything I like, (back up camera, homelink, bluetooth, etc) in a Gen III I would have to go WAY higher, paying for many things I did not want or need.

I'm planning on keeping my 2007 ......and getting a new Prius in a couple of years. By then perhaps they will add some more bells and whistles, (maybe like some of the ones on my 1999 Jeep..), and plug in, etc........

I also like my beige colored 2007 better then the gold color on the Gen III's........BUT. I'm not complaining......LOVE my Prius!

 

I suppose I did not expect many changes between the early released newly redesigned 2010 and the 2011's.

But maybe I subconciously hoped for a little change. Maybe a new tangible offering? A paint combo and some terminology changes and going from Roman Numerals to writing them out? Why bother? Or why bother even telling us? Underwhelming.

It has to of been a distracting year, and it seems Toyota is more focused on developing and releasing the Plug in Prius than whatever advancements might be made to the current Hybrid offering.

Still, the malcontent in me wishes Toyota could of offered something to at least think you could get excited about as a difference.

Hard to brag to your friends that you waited for the 2011's because you hate Roman Numerals.

Seems like with the 2010 to 2011 Prius Toyota is not "Moving Forward" and is content simply treading water. Which given it's success is not hard to accept or understand, but IS a little disappointing.

 

It's even harder to brag that the Roman Numerals were confusing.

 

That's it? One new color combo and some nomenclature changes?

YAWNNNNNN.

There's underwhelming and then there's MY11 level of nothingness. Not even worth the press release.

Did Toyota manage to address any of the common complaints like squeaky hinges/dash/bridge junctions? Has anything at all been improved?

What's the value proposition for buying a MY11 over a MY10? Assuming one can live without the black/bisque color and doesn't care about roman numerals there doesn't appear to be any compelling reason to go for a MY11 over a MY10.

 

I suspect there will be other changes/enhancements/refinements beyond those described by PriusTeam.

Every car manufacturer makes rolling production changes during the model year (witness the USB adapter, Safety Connect, etc.), and also makes more significant changes (short of a facelift or complete redesign) at model year changes. Doug even hinted at a few if you read his posts in this thread carefully.

Also--manufacturers keep this info close to the vest until very close to the new model year cars arriving at dealers, so as not to cause a fall of in current model year sales.

why wouldn't it be Its only the second year Of the GENIII .
This is the best car for the money! What's a better value??

LOL I'm quite well versed in marketing since it was my major in college and I've worked in product marketing for 15+ years and product development for 10+ years.

Hence my question: what is the value proposition of purchasing a 2011 Prius vs purchasing a 2010 Prius? I mean besides the fact that there will be a new color combo and the year will be 2011?

For some period of time there will be an inventory of 2010s, even when the 2011s are available for delivery. The 2011s will, in essence, be competing with the 2010s during the time that 2010 inventory is available. New or improved product feature(s) will be necessary to differentiate the model years. That's basic product development and marketing.

I realize Toyo has not yet disclosed any substantive info in their PriusChat teaser msg, so I just hope they've got something a bit more ummm...compelling... that they'll announce for the 2011s.
