Given Toyota replaced pistons, rings and egr valves for free, tried multiple intakes, admitted to the hg problem in Europe and updated ecu software multiple times, I am sure they were trying quick fixes for gen3 while they were successfully redesigning everything for gen4.

Since the egr valve and ecu software changes are easy and not expensive, I followed that path. I did not escape the inverter, brake booster or oil consumption traps and wonder how long my catalytic converter will last.

Some people sit around and talk about how bad xyz is in America; we sit around and dissect our gen3 Prius flaws over and over again as new people share the problems.

Kind of like Groundhog Day with Mendel and a few us standing in for Bill Murray. Not sure when Andie MacDowell is going to show up.

That came out in a TSB about a different issue, where water from the recirculated exhaust would condense in those little passages after a very short run of the engine not reaching normal temp.
