I know how you feel. I tried doing the license plate bulbs without pliers and it wasn't working out so well. They definitely help. Good luck!
Thanks for the comments Paulieprius! It's not a difficult mod to do, nor does it involve a lot of time and money. I think it's a great way to spruce up your vehicle for little cash. I'll post up some more pictures once I get the blue LED's installed in the doors. Now THAT is gonna be cool.

Okay so how do we replace the license plate lights? I heard that's the hardest to do.

On the old Prius, yes but the new one has little removeable access panels that make the job easier.

Just locate the two access panels on the inside of the hatch (so in the big black plastic cover), unplug the socket then twist the socket out of its holder and there's the bulb + socket. Replace bulb and reverse process.

Can anyone tell me how many bulbs the license plate require? 1 or 2? Thanks.

Oh man do I know how you feel!! That was a pain in the nice person. What eventually did was wrap my arm in a thin T-shirt and just kept going at it. FINALLY after what seemed like hours working that thing it came loose. Trying jumping up on the engine bay for a little better leverage. It does eventually come out though.

How hard was it to get the covers off covering the bulbs and what method would you recommend? Specifically the map and dome lights

Very nice thanks. Ordered my bulbs today from your links. I heard you mention the HID headlights; I made that change and I love them - they beat the Halogens hands down. The passenger side one is very hard to do and tears up your hand with trying to get the ballest harness in etc but it was worth it. Fogs going in next - got those from PC and the kit looks great.

Anytime - it's very easy to do. Was the HID install really kinda easy? Can you recommend me a kit and where to buy the kit?

Replaced map lights and license plate light. I took the door light out too just to see if the same bulb fits and it does. Door lights were only tricky with getting the bulbs out, but once you get it, you'll have no problems.

    Thanks for the video, Chicken.

Heres my interior an exterior FINALLY completed. Map lights, vanity mirror lights, dome light, door lights, trunk light, reverse lights, turn signals, sidemarkers, parking lights, and hid headlights. All the bulbs were off superbrightleds except for the HID kit. I believe the brand for that is Halo. They are 6000k. Heres my pics.

Also I was able to get a white dome that worked. I had to go to the Sylvania reference sight to get the cross reference.

Thanks for the pics. I see that you chose blue for the map lights and dome light. Is it bright enough? Any regrets. Looks cool!

Hey there- I used the same LED bulbs as the map lights. WLED - BHP5 (The B stands for blue)
