Sydney, Australia: my codes (P0A94) are pointing to inverter failure but the dealer has diagnosed the HV battery needs replacement. Has not confirmed if this will fix the codes by replacing it as I am concerned that we replace the HV battery and still need to replace the inverter.

Here is the quote which is also high considering some of the other quotes I have seen around $2.5K-$3K mark on the forums.

    New Hybrid Battery - $5038.77
Installed including diagnosis - $ 5764.77 (4 hours labour at $181.50 incl GST per hour).

Battery not in stock needs to come from Japan and takes 4-6 weeks

Yes, you should be very concerned about the diagnoses of a HV battery replacement. The dealer apparently did not go through the troubleshooting steps in the Toyota service manual for the P0A94 code that you have. The inverter problem is very well known here in the USA. There was a lawsuit about it, and Toyota USA agreed to cover the inverter for 20 years and unlimited miles. The P0A94 code is one of the codes covered by the 20-year and unlimited miles extended warranty.

The only way I would let the dealer change the HV battery is if they agree that if it does not fix the P0A94 code, they will reinstall your old HV battery, and you do not owe them anything for the time they spent trying to fix the car.

The dealer needs to go through the troubleshooting steps in the service manual for the code that you have. Ask them if they have done this and have then show you the steps that they have done showing that the HV battery needs to be replaced.

Normally, if the HV battery needs replacing, code P0A80 will be set.
