But didn't I read that it's coming in the 2nd half of 2019?

No conflict or contradiction there under U.S. model year designations. E.g. I bought my 2010 model in May 2009.

Does Oz follow the British labeling pattern that model year must be the same as the manufacturing year? I.e. in England, my U.S. 2010 would have been labeled as a 2009.

I've noticed on Toyota Australia website, if you're looking for pdf's of the Owner's Manuals, they're segregated by actual months/years, as opposed to model years.

Yes, when you go to trade, they go and look at the build date. Models never really are called by "2019 model".

So, my FIESTA, manufactured November 2010, it was the updated model which had just been released. I bought it late in 2011 (with a substantial discount). But when I went to trade - they called it a 2010 model. In USA, by their way of doing it, it would have probably been a 2011 model.

No, works fine - always has.

My Dad's 1949 Austin A40 was a 1949-1952 model, but his was distinctly known as 1949 because that's when it was made.

His 1959 FC Holden was made in 1959, but it was an FC model - which was built from ‎May 1958 – January 1960.

Always been identified by when they were actually built. It seems to be odd that a car built in September this year can be called 2020 - but that a car built in December 2020 isn't a 2020. As confusing as Miles per Galleon:rolleyes:.
