My diesel gets better MPG than your hybrid

My hybrid is currently getting 84.4 mpg after 769.9 miles with 2 pips howing.

The EEVC sponsored The Tour to the Shore rally earlier this year through the NJ Pinelands. Prizes were awarded in Hybrid, Gasoline & Diesel classes. High School clubs entered their biodiesel Jettas and a kit car. There were a handful of Prius, two Insights, and one gas entry. There was a shorter rally for the converted EVs built by other High School clubs. Hopefully the rally will become an annual event. The rally is covered in detail in another thread.

I've read nothing but good about that rally. It has a good mix of technology and that appeals to me. I could also drop my wife off in NYC to visit her son and from there, it is a day-trip.

The BlueMotion 2 (with higher levels of equipment compared to Bluemotion 1) emits 104 g/km of CO2 i.e. same as Prius 2.x.

Polo BlueMotion 2, offers additional specification:
- Remote central locking
- Illuminated vanity mirrors and two reading lights in front
- Alarm
- Air conditioning

BlueMotion 1 doesn't include the above equipment i.e. no aircon.

Some people wants X AND Y AND Z features NOT X OR Y OR Z features.

Maybe Toyota should build a Prius with a three-cylinder ICE and no aircon in an Aygo platform.

Yes I agree with all the above, but people that like to knock the Prius in the UK now love it that it no longer boasts the lowest CO2, the one interesting fact is the the UK government tax Diesels 3% more for company cars. But I must say there are a lots of new diesels coming out soon which on paper are a economical as the Prius and with the same spec (BMW, Mini). I suppose it depends on what you think of diesel, I still hate it when you follow one that pumps out a big cloud when it pulls away.

Once you loaded the BlueMotion with aircon and other equipment (i.e. as in "BlueMotion 2") the CO2 values is the same as Prius 2.x. Refer to the http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/company/press/..._polobluemotion
