So I've got serial number H152PAJ0015A meaning it's a 15 Feb 2012 Battery? Thanks much

So I'm seeing all these newer engines on E-Bay for about the same price as the older Gen2 engines and I'm wondering if I can remove all the externals and install them on one of these newer ones? Is the block and heads the exact same, maybe just different cams and electronics?

Not sure but since the Prius uses electronics so heavily different electronics could be major.

Gen2 has a mechanical water pump and Gen3 has an electric water pump.

I believe the Gen 3 engine has a larger displacement too.

    1.8L vs. 1.5L;).

Supply and demand is probably the reason for the price difference.

I would stick with what is designed to go there and think about the task at hand:).

Good luck with the engine swap (y).

Prius-C has the same block, updated with the electric water pump. Quite where to get the power for the water pump is left for the reader... If you use a Prius-C block and the older belt driven water pump, you 'll need to confirm that the crankshaft can still connect to the pulley for the water pump.

You should remove your front wipers and wiper tray, that little extra room you get will make your job a lot easier.

THIS , is the Bentley, it's pricey though $64. I use the Porsche one earlier for my LS3 transplant, very good manual. I hate the electronic versions, especially for wiring diagrams.
