Americans will buy the heck out of the Accord Hybrid. For whatever reason, those 0-60 times rule. If one finds it necessary to go from 0-60 in minimal time between stoplights, then maybe they shouldn't be looking at hybrids.

For the men in a midlife crisis to whom zooming from 0-60 in a blink of an eye is important to have for them restablish their manhood, well...it's an Accord....for real penis enlarging speed and recognition, why not spend a few thousand more and get a Corvette?

But...it's a free country. While us Prius owners will forever be 4 seconds behind the Accord hybrid in the all important 0-60 stoplight dash, we can still be nice and honk and wave as they pull into the gas station (while we pass it by) for yet another fillup and wonder why their hybrid isn't delivering it's promised mpg figures.

I think you hit on the big (pardon the pun) problem: we're obsessed with sex and everything has to have a sexual hint to it.

    - your pickup truck is *much* longer and *bigger* than the car next to you, therefore you are a *big* man

    - your car is *much* faster than the car next to you, therefore you are a *fast* man

    - your home is *much* bigger than your neighbor's home, therefore ... you get the idea.

    It's such nonsense.

I can see if you're a contractor with a crew and routinely tow 12,000lbs or have 2,475lbs in the bed, fine order a Dodge Quad Cab with the Cummins and the Towing Package. But I see most of them with a single person in the giant cab and maybe a bag of groceries in the box.

And as far as getting laid, in all honesty I have to admit the Prius far outscores (Again pardon the pun) any other vehicle I have ever owned. This thing is a chick magnet, women are almost magnetically drawn to it.

If I put on the Mr. Smooth routine - badda bing!

So maybe it's time for attitudes - on a nationwide scale - to change. If somebody wants to buy the "new" Mustang or a giant SUV, whatever, just don't p*** and moan about a gallon of gas being $5.

Yes, feel free to use it in a story if you credit me.

Energetic though fat is I doubt that it can be extracted fast enough to be useful for a vehicle much bigger than a bicycle.

Hmm... OTOH it should be possible to design a glucose-and-cholesterol burning device that could be implanted in a human body for effortless weight loss.
