MPG doesn't seem to be saving a lot.

I've had my car for about 2-1/2 years now.

I've always tried achieve the maximum MPG but never got the results I wanted.

My daily commute is about 100 miles round trip. I drive with 215x45x17 Michelin Premier A/S.

It's hard to describe. But here it goes. When I started applying the "feathering technique", my MPG went from 38-40 MPH to 50-55 MPG.:D

With a constant speed of 55-65 MPH, in mixed traffic, with steady acceleration and constant pulse and glide, I find myself averaging at the 55 MPG mark.

It's difficult to achieve steady acceleration and drive at slower highway speeds when everyone else is speeding and close to your tail.

I find myself on the slow lane, keep my distance and watch my MPG climb.

When I I catch up to traffic, I actually have time to stop and get the stare at the driver that flew past me just a few minutes ago.

I am by far a safer driver.

So my point is, use the "feathering technique", enjoy the drive and see your MPG climb!(y)

Learn the use the 'feathering' technique. This will get you much better mileage as long as your speed is below 60MPH. In local stop and go right now I'm getting 55+MPG. At freeway speeds, it drops to about 50MPG at best.
