Your car didn't get stuck, it just decided to get back at you for taking it through such conditions again and took a break.

I've never been to Sac before, maybe one day. How far is it from San Diego? LOL. I wanna go back to there again someday. I could even pick up that headlight :D

I have been to San Fran, San Jose, LA, San Louis Obispo (sp?), San Diego, and a couple other smaller places.

50/50 is a good rule of thumb, but you can't say that any other ratio is a lesser mixture. It all depends on what factors you wish to optimize.

Ethylene glycol is more viscous than water, and it also has a lower specific heat, which means the more glycol in your mixture, the hotter your engine will run. If maximum cooling is the requirement, you want to use a minimum of glycol - just enough to prevent corrosion. 10% to 15% is often used in these situations.

If, however, you want the lowest possible freezing point, then you need about 70% glycol. Anything more or less freezes at a higher temperature.

If boiling is the main factor, then you use all glycol, as it has a higher boiling point than water.

Given all of the above, most people in cold climates elect to use a 50/50 ratio. Besides, it's easy to figure the amounts at a half each.
