I don't remember right off hand but when it shows empty I think there is about 1.9 gallons or so left in your tank. So if you want to you can go about another 80+ miles.

I just fill up when it starts to flash.
    Enjoy your car!:D

It's accurate in that there are always around 2 gallons left in the 11.9 gallon tank. :) I've never had a gas gauge yet that was accurate to 0 gas in the tank. Every one had a fudge factor to try to keep you from running out of gas. The Prius does seem to have the largest fudge factor though.

One way to avoid that day: fill sooner. Life is full of pointless pursuits. Seeing how far you can go on a tank is one of them.

Light blinks with 2.2 gallons left. Once you reach the zero miles on the miles left trip screen, you can go 75 - 100 miles more easy (atleast the way I drive.....I rarely go over 53 mph)

4th fill up: Miles to drive reads 561. Total MPG reads: 50.2 Total Computed MPG is 47.3. Last tank computed MPG is 47.9

Miles to drive is a bit low, maybe I didn't get as much in. Looks like my "real" milage is about 47.somthing

Also I had the dealer change the oil and new filter … even if the oil was very clear. It probably didn't need to be done. I have done this [change oil after 1st 1000 miles] with all my cars and they all have lasted at least 250,000 miles. Price with tax was $65.08, which was cheaper than the special.

The secret to stress-free driving is not to torture yourself, worrying about how to squeeze out an extra mpg.

My last 2 tanks (roughly 2 weeks of commuting on each tank) have been 37.xx and 39.3mpg calculated, indicated had been 6-8% high!!!!!!!

This blows especially as I have my tires pumped up to 44/42, and religiously set my cc to 55 mph on my 18.5 mile commute (half highway), but granted it has been colder n all hell this last month....

I can't imagine mpg in this cold if I drove like some here who insist on rolling along at 75-80 mph!!!

On another note I did block my grill last week, lower grill is 90-95% blocked, only part not is about a half inch by a foot under my front license plate, should I block the top grill too???

Edit: in case it's not obvious, I have a Persona with stock 17's...
