The weather here on Long Island yesterday was about 82* and boy did I notice the difference in my mileage. I got about 67 mpg (display) on the way home (35 miles). As soon as I got in my car, at work, to go home and started to drive, I could immediately notice the car's behavior. The only way to describe it was ultra-smooth. The car seemed like it was in a sweet spot. Got 59 mpg on the way to work this morning averaging about 54 mpg with a temp in the mid 50s.
Same here in the rainy Northwest. When temps inch up to the 50's from the mid 40's and the roads are dry I notice an immediate 5-7 mpg over wet roads and mid 40's temps. When temps are in the 70's mpgs are up close to 10 mpg more than the mid 40's temps. In summer with warm dry weather its a piece of cake for every tank to be over 50 mpg calculated... It also helps to have a set of Michelin Energy Saver AS tires on your Prius for at least a 2-3 mpg increase over the stock Yoko Avid tires..
Ok--I got stellar mpg this week from the Prius III and am more impressed as this car breaks in. Temps hit 70-95 this week and 4300 miles now on the ODO. I ran the A/C for 4 days on my drive home but not in the morning and round trip drive is 116 miles. I hit speeds up to 75 mph on the highway. When I finally filled up this morning these are the stats: 559.7 miles driven 52.0 mpg computer reading 11.2 gal filled 49.97 mpg calculation 42 mph
When the last blip (?) was blinking on the gas gauge I tanked up and it only took 9.29 gallons for the fillup. If the tank holds 11.9 gallons per manual, then going over 11 gallons is a blind faith thing. How do you know that you are not going to run out of gas?

I rented a 2013 prius 3 for weekend trip to DC. Figured I rent cars before I buy. Wow! Set cruise control on 65. Got 56 mpg. This car is a great. I was very surprised. Always read it drove bad. Drove like my wives civic. I will buy one next year. SCH-I535 ? 2
Got 55.5 mpg doing 65-75 mph on eco mode. Stayed in the middle lane and went with the pace but went light on the gas pedal as much as possible. Only been driving a hybrid for one week and still learning but hope to get better mpg's as time goes on and I get more experience driving a hybrid.
Personally, I multiply the computer mpg number by 11 to determine miles I can safely travel on a tank.

Yeah for me. I hit the 500 mile club on my 5th fill up. 1934 miles total on my 2013 base model Prius III. Temps have been over 105 here in Phoenix. I am pleased with the mileage so far. I've done a few 70mpg trips on my commute home (33 miles). Still trying to get this whole hypermile strategy. Sorry. Don't know how I got that upside down.
Thats ok! If it's a i-phone I think they take them upside down. I'm probably wrong but it is something like that!
