2006. The JBL premium stereo in the '04-05 came with a tape deck, and with the '06 update they did away with it in favor of an auxiliary input.

    Easiest car to scratch

Both the paint and the plastic are the cheapest thinnest garbage around. You can breathe on the and find a big scratch.

    Yes,

I found that out a couple of months ago. I bought a couple of 2032 batteries for the fobs for my 05 Prius, since the car was 3 years old, & I was concerned that the fob batteries could go at any time. Then after I traded the 05 on a new 08, my computer battery died, and I thought the battery type sounded familiar. A month later my wife complained that she kept getting error messages when she turned her computer on, and she had to reset the clock. I replaced her battery with the second one I had bought for the fobs. Very convenient.

Not sure if this has been posted... but i only found this out recently

When you press and hold the "Info" button, and while holding it down, switch on your headlights, switch it off, on, off, on and finally off again (ie. switch on and off × 3 times), you will access a secret menu on the MFD.

Hey Pat, I will send you an info button if you send me an adjustable height seat (LH) in return.

Where will I get one of those? We don't have height adjustable left hand seats in our cars either. You need to talk to a European.

Of course if I found you one I would want the full nav system etc to go with the info button.

Sorry, I thought you had adjustable height seats on both sides.

I would give you the Nav system in return for the seat. The Nav never works for me when I really need it. I have had to stop and buy an old fashioned map twice when the Nav couldn't find the address I had given it.

I will throw in my info button just to have a simple 6 CD changer for my audio. My Singapore Prius (shipped straight from Japan) only has 1 CD and i will get pretty sick of Erasure trying to discover a little something eventually after a long drive....

The hood is aluminum and therefore more prone to denting than you would think. Go easy getting that stubborn ice & snow off in winter.

My 04 doesn't have the tape deck, but it did come with a miniDisc player (along with the 6 CD changer and a TV tuner).

    Is that obscure, or what...

Wow. Took me four days to read from start to finish, but a lot of cool stuff here. Here is some of what I've learned:
    • Mirror goes upside down (tried it, but didn't like it).
    • Vanity Lights are automatic (okay).
    • People like to put Kleenex in the compartments (ick).
    • The user manuals are cumbersome (duh).
    • People are fascinated about trying to lock keys inside (hmm).
    • Wipers are all different (driver's is only 1 that matters).
    • Batteries go dead sometimes (can happen with any car).
    • Prius owners love their cars (Yippee).

This may have already been posted but:
If you slide the front seats all the way forward and remove the headrests you can lay the seat back all the way down so the front seatback is level with the rear seat bottom. It's handy for hauling very long objects. In Japan it's advertised as a feature and it's called "refresh mode" so you can stretch out and take a nap I would assume.

BTW, when your HID lights start to fail (turn off when they feel like it-about once/hour) you can restart them by turning your headlights off-then on...this worked for another 20k+ miles on my 2006.

You can do quite a bit more with that feature.

Ok since Hyo_Silver didn't post it, I will.

You can flip the rear seats up from the hatch area. This is assuming you didn't remove them from the catch when you folded them down in the first place.

You simply reach in from the rear bumper and grab the seatbelt and pull it towards you. The rear seat will follow. The seatbacks are light enough that I don't think you'll do much damage to the seatbelt (just don't yank too hard).

If your Prius doesn't have Bluetooth but has an Aux jack, you can connect your phone's audio out to that and use it as a hands-free device. (Depends on what kind of phone you have, of course.)

And if your Prius doesn't even have an Aux jack, you still can still simulate hands-free using an FM transmitter like the Griffin iTrip.
