The speed increment seems to be a factor of how long you hold the lever. Tap it gives 1 MPH, hold for 1 second give 2 MPH. You can even speed up or slow down by holding it until the speed that you want is reached.

Yep. that was on an older post.. also you can hit your up or down and hold it to change to the next CD's.

The voice is actually Microsoft Jill. SHe is used in several text to voice software programs. We use such a program at school for special ed students and it is weird to hear "my Prius" reading a students paper or an internet site :lol:

 

I'm very amused by people using the navi to get directions, but at the same time ignoring said directions.

To be fair though, I've done a similar thing where maybe the beginning or end of the route is unknown so I follow Jill's advice, but on the known end I go my own way.

If I know how to get where I'm going, I don't use the Navi.

If I don't know, I use the Navi. However, I already know how to get to the highway from my house, so I ignored its rather roundabout way (until it learned my favorite way, but I still ignore it). I only pay attention once I'm near my destination.

Also, when I'm in Boston, because of construction the way is different every time, I have no choice but to ignore the Navi (which annoys me, because that's where I need it most).

All of the previous Toyotas that I have owned with cruise control have changed in 1 MPG increments. This includes a 2000 RAV4 and a 2003 Highlander. The 78 Celica didn't have cruise.

I've successfully float charged my 2006 Prius from the positive post in the front fuse box under the head. Its much more convenient than the rear battery access.

 

Had our Prius about 6 months now.

Just discovered that there (at least) 5 different ways to lock the car.

1. Fob
2. Metal key
3. Press an exterior 'black button'
4. Press 'Lock/Unlock' rocker switch located by window buttons
5. I just discovered (red) button by interior door handle.

 

When you just start your car and put it in reverse the rearview camera comes on, and then when you hit the EV button (Mod) the screen jumps to the energy screen. Then when you push your anytime rearview camera button (Another Mod) the rearview camera will not come on. You first have to put it into neutral and then back into reverse to get the camera back.

Another Obscure Prius Fact is that it is way to easy to mod!

I'd never noticed the red button, and I usually use the black exterior buttons. I hope the rubber covering doesn't wear out. I do alternate between driver door, hatch door and passenger door though.

It also fits behind the center console--flip down the rear cup holder arm, and place it over the first one. There are even guides to hold it in from the top!

 

while you are in reverse to get out of your spot, and then you pause for a bit to adjust the climate control, your rear view camera doesn't work anymore (unless you change to D and then do R again)

I would caution that I don't think this way of locking will lock ALL the doors...
