I'll be 100% happy if you can make it legally OK to transfer my HOV stickers off my 2007 Prius and onto a new 2010. I'd have a IV with sunroof so fast ....

    :)

Come on Doug, make it happen!!! (Hee hee) I want a new Prius.

Makes me feel LOTS better. I held off on a Prius for a long time because I didn't want to loose my favorite things: leather, sunroof and bum warmer. Many thanks to Otsuka for designing a car just for me!!

Back to that cute little light over the gear shifter. If you are bored on a night time road trip float a piece of paper over it and do shadow puppets! ;)

Most people probably already realized this, but with the integrated bluetooth you don't need the 3.5mm male/male jack to plug in and play music; you can just play your Iphone through the bluetooth!

I, unfortunately, have a smartphone. Guess if they called it a dumbphone no one would buy it.

If someone got this one already, sorry.

Toyota doesn't recommend tow hitches for the Prius. Not even for a hitch mounted bike rack. (People do it anyhow though...)

 Ok, nobody has posted this: When using the Map mode on the Nav screen, press "Map" button again and the actual address you are driving by appears on the top of the screen. Keep tapping "Map" and the street numbers update to the actual position. This is invaluable when searching for an address without programing it in as a destination.

Another tidbit: an i-pod Touch fits in the groove cut by the hinges on the cup holder on the center console. Lift up the lid and set the i-Touch (or i-Phone) horizontally in the groove. The slant is Ok for Passenger viewing of music videos and the occasional glance by the driver.

    Diane,

Move to Virginia! They let you transfer your HOV-privileged tags to a new hybrid.

Um, that is not much of a challenge. That is like finding sand on a beach.

Now if you could find a sushi restaurant in central Maine or an honest politician in Washington DC, or a ski slope in Florida, I would be far more impressed.

In AZ, the HOV plates can be transferred between cars. I've spotted another 2010 Prius V in Blizzard Pearl that also had AZ HOV plates, so I'm not the only one.

At full power, yes, electric motor speed (MG2, permanently "connected" to the final drive) will continue to increase, and MG1's (generator) speed will decrease proportionately.

i think im the first to state this : if you have remote start it is the only way to have the car running and the doors locked with you outside of the car (without using a mechanical key). :):)

    • Holding down 'set' on cruise control to slow down will apply regen, the car slows down much more quickly, but keeps speed when you release as normal.
    • The bluetooth in the NAV system supposedly supports AVRCP 1.4. This means you could use an Ipod bluetooth adapter and have complete wireless ipod integration. Thats if you can find an adapter that also supports AVRCP 1.4 (Audio Video Remote Control Profile)
    • In WA state the Prius is omitted from emissions testing.

AZ we're exempt for the first 5 years, but then only have to have an OBD-II type plug to verify "compliance" every other year.

In CA the Prius is exempt.

Another "fact" - when using cruise control, it doesn't seem that Eco/Normal/Power makes any difference, when adjusting speed higher or resuming - accelerating will happen at the same rate of speed regardless of the drive mode.

Nice! I wonder if this'll be permanent, or merely temporary. What with more & more hybrids on the road ... we wouldn't want to put those poor smog check stores out of business.

Great find! I am a happy nav user with my 2005; I hadn't noticed that feature which also works with the 2005 nav version.

NOTE: I took the liberty of posting the Gadgetdad quote to the corresponding GenII thread
