Oh ok I see what you're saying. You're thinking day mode. I'm thinking night mode, or at least with the headlights on. Check it out next time. Your footwell lights stay on with the parking or headlights on. It's bright in Park and dims in Drive.

I get what you're saying now, that the footwell lights stay on all the time the car is running, doors open or closed?

In my gen3 footwell light is on with park lights on and it dims when the door gets closed, if I remember correctly.

Hmm, I can't remember if ours brightens when the door is opened.

Harvest Beige interiors will get a beige seatbelt set. Cool Grey/Moonstone and Black have black seatbelts.

Well the lights are on when the parking lights or headlights are on. They have two brightness settings - brightest when the car is in Park and dimmed when the car is in Drive. I can't remember if they change brightness if the doors are opened. I'm guessing no since the dome and personal lights will come on.

On the front seat doors, around the window / lock / outside mirror controls there is a glossy finish plastic, but the rear doors have a plain matte finish plastic or less expensive finish.

Washing the 2016 Prius isn't at all like previous years in that the seals are much better around the doors, mirrors, etc, and you don't have water dripping out for a long time after to spot up everything. Makes washing the car much easier.

The "PRIUS" emblem is a different font than the Gen 2 or 3.

Wow, that sounds really amazing. Grocery hooks? I better trade in my 2012 for one of these.

Contoured door closers? I knew something was dreadfully wrong with my Prius, but I could never put my finger on it... Contoured door closers!!! Pa-zang!!!! Oh, what a feeling!

I stand to be corrected but looking at the edge of the driver's door window makes me think they used laminated glass.

I was thinking that in case of zombie attack this is an excellent choice of materials, then I looked at the edge of back passenger window.

That one looked to be regular tempered glass.

So much for protection from zombies (or amost as likely the hordes massing for the coming food riots).

    Seriosly, what was Toyota's thinking?

Laminated front window door glass is listed in Canada for the top model. It's possible it's the same situation for Four/Four Touring models in the U.S. even those the specs don't list it.

At one point, Prius offered hydrophobic glass treatment, which shed rainwater away for better visibility. Perhaps that's it?

It is offered in Japan for 2016 but I doubt that is it. Laminated glass is for sound insulation (and a small side benefit of security but then the rear windows are tempered and are the weak link)

European models have a speed limiter function. Thanks @kithmo for pointing that out.

How is this different from using the cruise control stick [up/down] to set a speed?

Cruise control keeps you at a fixed speed - speed limiter allows you you control the speed, but wont allow you to exceed the speed limit that you set. Cruise control is not very useful when traffic is not flowing smoothly - but speed limiter lets you go with the flow without exceeding speed limit.

There are speed cameras and average speed cameras in parts of Europe. The speed limit ensures that you don't stray over the speed limit. Unlike in North America, there appears to be ZERO tolerance so if you're 1 mph over, it's a ticket so the speed limiter function ensures you don't accidentally stray 1 mph over the speed limit (with or without cruise).

I think everyone knows this pretty much but I got some pics of the rear air (underseats) from my Prius 3 with ATP but should be the same across all models. thought I would throw in these pics because I'm sure a few others might be curious what they look like besides myself.

EDIT: I noticed also that the rear vents do not blow unless you have the floor vents turned on (or floor and other combination) and of course the S-Flow turned off.
