I've been so bored with this thread, I haven't been able to bring myself to visit. Now that I'm here, I remembered why.
I don't understand why people get rice cookers. Cooking rice on a stove top is almost as easy as boiling water. A rice cooker takes up valuable counter space. It doesn't save me any time. It doesn't allow me to make a rice dish more complex than plain steamed rice. And it doesn't even make good plain steamed rice. --- Befuddled in New York
I bought a rice cooker at target on sale for $8.99. For that price I couldn't pass it up. I've only used it once.
My microwave oven has a built-in timer. I can use it as a timer without actually turning on the "microwave" part of the microwave oven.
My microwave oven also has a built in timer that can operate independently. Weird part is that the beep is very quiet -- only about 20 percent as loud as the beep of the microwave oven.
My microwave also has a built in timer. The beep for the timer is the same volume as the regular beep. I wish that my microwave had an option to turn the beep off though. My old microwave did.
I have a belgian waffle maker taking up space on my counter. It's like the one you see at the hotel continental breakfast. Except I don't have a kitchen staff to prepare the batter.
