Man, would not that be something if that was the problem the whole time...and an easy fix. I think I would stay with this new dealer. Also, gives the rest of us something to check on if and when we get our cars. Happy for you and your car.

Excellent! So where will your car be parked the day before April 1st?

Another thing that can happen is that you can get water into there or into the wheel hubs and this can cause the car to be unbalanced. In the northeast this is always a fun time of year because you don't know if your car has gone crazy or the crazy weather has gone for your car. My truck would make a thunking sound on right turns after a really bad snowstorm because for some reason the right side hubs would collect ice but the left wouldn't. I bet if I backed into my yard once in a while it would reverse the effect since the left side gets morning sunlight in the winter which helps melt things.

If your weather changed and they put in plugs it is possible that something had been up there that melted out and is now sealed properly. Lets hope that is all that was happening and everything is good now. But now that you mention plugs, I have to wonder if my car has them installed since I took 2 days after my vehicle was dropped off the truck and it had clearly not been prepped yet, they hadn't even plugged it in before I drove it home.

On 3rd gen they're here (just inboard of rear scissor jack position):

Reinforced plate, good location for safety stand placement, btw.

I wonder if these serve similar function, circled in blue? Next time I'm under I'll take a better look. If you pop out the rear caps, there's not a sharp edge, the corner is double layer, and the inside has a rounded, reinforced edge.
