By all apprearances this is a careful update of Kerry Sieh's backhoe work of the past few decades. The summary is that the big-shake return time may be shorter than we had thought. Or hoped.

It is certainly the best-studied disagreement between crustal plates in the world, but there are still a lot of unknowns.

 

If you keep "predicting" a once-in-a-few-hundred-year event, you get to be right eventually.
