IMO if you are not satisfied with the acceleration of the Prius, the best performance mod is to trade it in for a used slammed Civic Si or Integra or something along those lines, and leave the Prius for somebody who will appreciate it for what it is. You could probably sell the Prius for thousands more than a good used Civic or 'Teg costs and that money could offset the increased fuel expenses over the life of the car.
As far as a car that is the "talk of the town" is concerned, my Prius when it was completely stock, got me far more attention than my '95 Integra GS-R ever got. So far I have added an XM radio, a leather visor over the MFD, mudflaps (aka fender mullets) and a personalized license plate to my Prius and I bought a Treo 650 "smartphone" to take advantage of the Bluetooth HFL and my friends are absolutely blown away by this car.

I totally agree.. If you want a fast car buy a fast car. Don't buy a car which was meant to get good fuel economy and try to make it fast. I have my prius and I also have a Nissan 240sx which produces around 600hp. THAT is fast. A prius will never be that fast. Just buy a car and make it fast if that's what you want. A prius is 100% the wrong car if thats what you want. If you want it to look cooler that's a good idea, but don't go putting junk on it that'll just hurt it.
