That is a grand total of 710 through september 2016. They need to average 152/month to hit their goal of 3000 total sometime in 2017 in the US. Its definitely doable based on august, but ...

Tesla on the other hand - reported strong quarterly results
Production of electric Model S sedans and Model X crossover vehicles hit 25,185 units in the quarter, up 92 percent from a year ago. Deliveries of vehicles to customers were the best in company history, totaling 24,821 and generating $2.15 billion in revenue.

Tesla is of course worldwide so maybe should be compared to 2700 mirai world wide in 2015-2016. Still its hard to think the US government would invest in hydrogen infrastructure, to make hydrogen competitive with plug-in.

 

As of November, they're now apparently up to 782. Woohoo! What's even more pitiful is the number is artificially inflated due to the inclusion of several dozens of those purchased by CA.
