"March of the Penguins"

An inspired choice for the English version release. The original French version was a completely different movie with the story carried by screwy cartoon voices for the penguins and a different edit. It would probably be fun to watch at a late night party if you had enough alcohol in you.

Isn't it amazing how a superior sound score and narration can completely change the effect of the visual. The French was probably schlock. The U.S. release was stunning.

If "man" is a virus on the planet, the planet can only be helped, even if in a small amount, if you kill yourself. If you take several others with you, then all the better. Perhaps we should honor those who kill the most virii, and make memorials to the mass murderers.

"More humans" does not mean less diversity in nature. It means a small, but insignificant blip on the timeline of the cosmos. In 100 billion years what we do here won't even be measurable.

Here's what to pay attention to: the only reason for conservation and environmentalism is that it saves MAN, not the planet. The planet will survive, even if it turns itself inside out and spews magma all over its surface. With everything dead, given our atmosphere and the fact that here, on this orb, "life happens", the planet will simply wait a few short hundred-billion years for life to "happen again".

We already know that earth has been much hotter, much more barren, much colder and much more unliveable than it is today, long before man was here. The reason we want to conserve and protect the environment is not to save the planet ... as it cannot be lost ... but to save ourselves.

And with that argument, you'll get the people thinking who are not wrapped up in today's version of hopeless existentialism. "Virus" indeed.
