Oh Baby, it's coming!! Can you feel that warmer weather? Can you see the rising MPG? I know I can!!! What a great feeling to have some decent (my standards have gotten squewed over the past 17 months) fuel economy, esp. with gas prices rising. Detailed Lifetime Mileage Stats HERE <-- Fill up yesterday = 57.5mpg!!! March stats: 1270 miles 23.904 gallons 53.5 MPG Lifetime MPG: 50.9 MPG This is a great place to start the spring and summer season and I have very high hopes of pushing my LMPG at least to the 52mpg mark, and with luck even to 53mpg. Lots and lots of variables in there, but with the 20k mile break-in mark and a little luck that 53 may be possible. BTW, yesterday's fill was my 50th fill-up since getting my Prius--a total of 407 gallons in 17 months and 20,737 miles of driving. I think you could call me a satisfied customer!
Ave tank Km: 825 Total Km: 1875 Tank Km/L: 20 Avg Temp: 35 Price per Liter: 110yen Finally weather is warming up now average is 20Km/l and I can keep up. If driving around 90Km is best crusing speed. Oh gas price is up so, it may reach 4bucks a gallon soon  but I hope not
Took delivery on 1 March. Put 1500 miles on it during the month. Topped off on the 31st to see how things were going. Totaled all gas put into it and the miles driven (not the mpg indication) to get fairly true mpg for the first 1500 miles. Oh yes, didn't drive it much different than my previous car (okay, so I coasted a bit on downhill runs, if there was no one behind that I might hold up). The temps ranged from low 40's (F) to the high 50's. Mix of interstate, around town and rural roads. The calculated mpg was 48.7. The electronic reading per tank load stayed around the low 48 -- about a half mpg less than calculated). Think this is pretty good as, from the Consumers Report test of overall 44 mpg, I am doing much better. Come on warmer weather. Guess I'll go with synthetic oil the first change too. Now if I can only get better mileage out of my lawn tractor!
Can you beat this??????Purchased a 2005 Prius on Jan 5/2005. Fuel consumption at 1500 K. Distance of approx 180K. Set cruise control at 100K. Light wind on super highway. Readout when I arrived home 4.2 per 100 K....or 65 miles to Canadian gallon.
Gee.....after approx 1500K on od I filled tank and travelled approx 180K Readout on arriving home was 4.2 per 100K = 65 mpg. Cruise at 100K super highway. Should even be better after broken in around. G. Kadey, Tillsopnburg, On Canada
Fuel consumption.......distance travelled after fill 170K.....Early morning.....light wind....cruise control set at 100K (60MPH) super highway travel. Readout after arriving home .....4.2 litres per 100K.....or 65 MPG Canadian. Believe the US Gallon = 4/5 Canadian gal. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, it was when I refuelled and the consumption screen resetted, travelled to Langley and back at 90km/h. Arrived home at 3.6L/100km ~90km each way
WOW.........at 3.6L per 100K is approx 75 MPG . Must have had a strong tail wind both to and fro. How many K on your Prius. Mine at 2000K, yet to be broken in. Langley in B.C.?
Well, obviously that was just a sprint. I think my tank avg ended up at 5.0L/100km since it was January. I don't think it was that windy but it was Hwy 1. Currently it has 8,300kms. and yes, in BC
Odometer: 9528M TripB: 573M Tank: 10.17G TripB/Tank: 56.4 MPG Display Milage: 573 M Display MPG: 47.4 MPG Price of Gas: $1.999 per gallon.
May I sugggest that you leave earlier to arrive at your destination on time rather than driving above the posted speed limit to make up time. At 70/80 mph your vehicle will use 15/20 % more fuel than driving at 60 mph. Also, set your cruise control between 60/65 and you will be suprised at the reduction in gas used. Of major importance if your vehicle requires premium grade gas at a premium price. An added benefit of driving slower is the safety factor.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rollerblade\";p=\"81033)</div> Actually the speed penalty is even greater in the Prius because the other wasteful factors have been greatly reduced. The low coefficient of drag helps but here is my experience. At 60 mph I get right at 60 MPG and at 70 mph I get tight at 50 MPG and at 80 mph I get right at 40 MPG. When I do the math I get 25% more fuel at 70 mph and 50% more fuel at 80 mph.
Yea......a big pay off if one keeps their speed at 65 mph, or less. Gas here is .85 cents a litre and that would translate to about $2.47 per US gal....at regular grade.
sigh... prices here in hawaii never looked back. i doubt we'll see prices dip below the $2 anymore. regular is $2.30-$2.70 depending on which island.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Ray Moore\";p=\"81229)</div> Not that it matters but I think it should be 20% more fuel at 70 mph based on your examples. At 60 mph, fuel consumed = 1/60 MPG = 0.0167 GPM At 70 mph, fuel consumed = 1/50 MPG = 0.02 GPM At 80 mph, fuel consumed = 1/40 MPG = 0.025 GPM So, it should be 20% more fuel at 70 mph and 50% at 80 mph. Here are my totals for tanks driven in March Total Miles 1206.7 Total gallons 26.45 Total MPG= 45.62 The price went up from $1.96 on the first fill-up to $2.10 on the third fill-up. The last fill-up was a little suspicious as the MFD had it at almost 50 mpg, so I am thinking our first tank in April will be higher than the MFD.
