I don't know if this would have a direct connection- this soon. But Japan suffered from a 5.0 earthquake on Dec 9th.
I don't really know the extent of damage. Some reports. But it was a 5.0 magnitude and not very far off their coast. Was kind of surprised to hear about it...and then how quickly news of it did die down.
This is the same thing that I'm hearing from my internal sources at Toyota. I'm not sure why your dealer heard differently.
I just asked the salesperson I'm working with to order my Prime. She said there is no manufacturing hold, just a backorder. (That said, this dealership doesn't seem to know a whole lot about the Prime yet.)
I had emailed my salesperson yesterday and got a reply just now. I had ordered mine Nov. 7th. At that time he said it would be early Jan to mid Jan. His email said they have not been able to get my car on their allotment orders yet. That cars seem to be for coastal states right now until demand eases up some. Don't know if that is an excuse or true but I emailed him back saying how disappointed I was. Looks like coal in my stocking for this year. And I am a "green" person so coal is bad.
I feel your pain. But what's this crud about us peons in the midwest having to wait for coastal demand to ease up? Do they think we're all gas guzzlers here or what?
Well, just got a reply to my "I'm disappointed" reply email. He said he has the main guy working on trying to get me my car. Now instead of getting use to disappointment I have a glimmer of hope to cling onto.
We Cubs fans had only a glimmer of hope for 108 years. It finally happened, so anything's possible! I just hope our wait isn't more than 108 days...
Toyota, or perhaps just their supporters, claimed the PiP wasn't offered in some states and areas of Europe because the electric grid was too dirty.
Well, I have swept the garage, and cleanup up for the new prime and I guess I could clean my electric grid if that helps.
Who said that? I never heard anything even remotely like that... and I've encountered a lot of spin... much of which we've been able to debunk too.
We had a deposit on a Prius Prime order in Houston, TX and our order got cancelled. The dealership said they are halting production because of some manufacturing issue. I called another dealership to confirm this information and they said that they can't even put in orders for the prime and don't know when they will be able to. Another dealership said they may be able to take orders in February. I also called the Toyota corporate offices and they told me that the Prime is still being produced and they have no information on a stop production. He also said that for right now they are only being sold in California and they don't have a timeline for other parts of the country. After looking at this forum thread it seems like people on the east coast and other parts of the country are ordering/receiving primes. Very confused...
