The way my dealer explained it from the Email they got is, the company that builds the rear hatch for them, had a problem with some of the rear hatches they delivered to Toyota and Toyota had to send them back. No issues with the ones they installed, but will delay anymore coming into the states.

They said something to do with the Carbon fiber. not the glass.

This happened early on, and Toyota's statement to the press was that it would only delay the introduction in Japan.

Well maybe so, but when I tried to order one n Mid-November, thats the Email my local dealership got from Toyota, and they said, June in our area before they could get me one, returned my down payment and I had to find a deal that had one in stock 200 miles away to get mine.

A good dealership would have gotten the one 200 miles away for you.

You mean Prius Team? lol. I didn't see a ping in this thread.

Well the delay back in late this summer was for the hatch. It is a carbon fibre reinforced plastic material. I thought they were doing it in-house.

I pinged Prius Team, and they responded without any new information, so they're aware of this thread.

This alleged delay seems to be know only to Priuschat users. If this were true it would be all over the automotive media sites especially the pro volt/bolt anti Toyota pubs.

Why did they make the hatch from carbon fiber anyway? Can't save much weight. Bet they're having a slap to the forehead moment back at Toyota right now.

same reason tesla put gull wing doors on the x. okay, there was another reason. the front end design was so inefficient aerodynamically, they tried to make up for it somewhat with the c/f and the double bubble window. cars are just getting stranger and stranger.

You don't know that. I have spent over 20 years doing detailed aerodynamics testing and one thing I can tell you for sure is aerodynamics is far from intuitive for people who haven't spent a lifetime doing it (and not even for them).

A common example is this famous figure. Would you intuitively expect both of these objects to produce the same amount of high speed drag? They do.
