Main reason for buying a Prius?

My first requirement was safety - and the Prius is way up there - a lot more than most think.

Second was that it had to be something that the wife would like. My commute is in a chauffer driven stretched Mercedes (also known as an articulated bus operated by our state bus system), so she will be driving more than me (or so I thought when buying it - now I want to drive it more).

To me the bonus was both cheaper to run and better than most cars for the environment.
