My Nano 2 , after 36,000 km, are still in great shape, according to the tire shop and the measurement of the wear, which unfortunately i forgot. It looks they will go ahead another 35,000... the rubber will probably become too hard before the wearing....

That sounds great! Can you recommend any sites to purchase these tires online? Need shipping to Finland...

I believe, everything is right, expect fuel economy - it is opposite. 205 is wider, so less mpg than 195, I guess.

Other things come in to play "apart from wind resistance" when changing from 195's to 205's. You will often find the wider tyre of the same model has a lower rolling resistance quoted on the EU label. Carrying the same weight on a wider tyre means the load per square inch or mm is less this in turn gives less deflection of the tyre tread leading to less not more friction, and energy loss.
I went up to 205/55/16's from the OEM 195/55/16's, and gained 3 MPG.
The Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance tyres although having good RR, and wet grip figures I found were very poor on tread life "18,000 miles" also the very soft side walls are prone to failure. I cannot recommend these.

Wow, thank you for your experience. I read somewhere here opposite tests, where wider tires has significant impact on mpg. Your results surprised me, but I believe you. So than I perhaps will keep stay on 215/45/17 and will not switch to 195/55/16 which I thought will be as good for mpg as 195/65/15. For 205/55/16 - i can not use these for Gen3, toyota does not have homologisation for these ones and police can penalty me.

Maybe this mid-budget ones? Looks like average tire, but with budget price = less cost per km.
    Hankook K125 Ventus Prime3 215/45 R17 91W ? rated C/B

Hallo, can you update please, how are your tyres performing? Someone here posted, they lasted him 30k miles /performance one/, which will be all right for B fuel rating tyre. I know, everything else is superb. thank you

Guys, how much do you think is the difference between class C and A tires? Which one would you choose and why? Which one lasts longer and provides better mileage?

    Toyo NanoEnergy 2 225/45 R17 94W XL, Class A/C, price 114,20€ (456,80€ / set)
    Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 225/45 R17 94W XL, Class C/A, price 78,90€ (315,60€/set)

Previously I had Ecopia EP001s A/A rated tire, now I have Pirelli P1 C (rolling) rated tire, the diference is noticeable but it's hard to put in numbers, I would say at least 0.3 l/100 km diference.

Are you sure you looking the right size? Prius comes with 215/45 R17 not 225

Sure does but 225 is much cheaper and still you can find it in A class. Thanks for the note though. Thanks also for the information about the numbers. 0,3l sounds quite big to me. It's 180 litres of fuel if the tires last for 60k killometres and it means 252€ with current petrol prices.

I have a feeling that not many newer EU eco tyres last 60k km, mine EP001 lasted just a litle over 30k km, that's why I made a choice for Pirelli.

You must be sure 225 will fit with steering wheel at max level and you must also homologate new size. There is no good choice for 215 but I would choose GY efficientgrip performance XL for 98€, Conti ecocontact 5 (102 €) or Michelin Primacy 3 (110 €), sadly none of them are A rated.

Does still Toyo suports R17 with their NanoEnergy? Nanoenergy 2 is finished and Nanoenergy3 is producing only for R13-14-15 range, sadly for us 17" drivers. I someone has still Nanoenergy2 for 225/45/17 on stock, I think buy it, as they will not have any more. I just also canceled Hankooks from my list, as I checked a lot tests and their C rolling is really not so good/that is not why we bought Prius, right/. On the other hand, tire will last quite long with wear, so still can be good option in case of EUR optimalisation.

yep, they have similar wear rate. I can find GY EF performance for 90EUR.... but still is not very cheap and wear is questionable/someone posted 15k miles, others 30k+ miles/ . For RR it looks as best fuel efficient in this sizes, after a lot tests checked. I will try this one, I think in size 215/45/r17

I've only done about 2500 km so far so it's hard to tell, and I have no real comparison with any other tyres on the same car. Grip seems good - I have pushed them hard on occasions and they have not let me down, and I have had no trouble in the wet (one of my priorities when buying tyres due to the climate here). You can see my fuel consumption in the links in my signature but it varies greatly on my EV driving ratio.

I would not have much faith in the EU tyre label ratings - it would be also worth checking out ADAC and Auto Bild tests as they give significantly different results (I think there are some links further back in this thread).

Agree, but that's better than nothing. I'm still waiting for some better way to rate the tires but until that comes these ratings are all we got. Of course it's not that simple to calculate all the costs caused by tires since there are a lot of variables to consider...

Great MPG, BTW. My best is 4,0l/100km at the moment but my trip to work is 37 kilometres of motorways with 120km/h speed limit. I've tried to avoid the biggest roads but still cannot get below 4,0. Cheers mate!

    ... he has the Plug-in ;)

Altrnative tire size for 17" could also be 205/50 R17, but not any cheaper than stock size.
