Good news in the end. I was getting dressed this morning to go over to the dealer and guess what fell onto the floor? My key fob.. YAY!!! And I emailed the person I bought the extra one from and told them I found it and they are refunding me. Double Yay!!! So zero dollars spent :)

might still be a good idea to have a spare okay, i just saw that your husband has the other one, nevermind. how did it fall off the key, anyway? mine is very difficult to remove.

Even so, the extra one is still a good idea. You have one, partner has one and you hide one in the car. The alternative is to keep the spare at home in case partner isn't available.

Why do you need to remove the FOB from your pocket?
After all, keyless just means hands off. Just get into the car when you are near it as it auto unlock.
Even after double locking just pull on the handle and the car auto unlock.

I have never bother with the key from my pocket except to change my pants.
