Looks like some more Volt battery fires.

Do you know what a circular argument is?

You say codes are at minimum standards in your previous post.
Here you say the minimum standard is a code.

    Awesome.

Anyway they still use aluminum wire. That is what Noalox is for.

I swear, apparently you just need to have the last word. Who gives a crap about Noalox? I was bringing up a specific point to show what a minimum standard or code was, and why just about everything has minimal standards that don't change until lawsuits happen. You were the one who asked the question. I've been trying to get out of this thread for 4 days now.

Get your last word in again without calling for a response. Geesh!

GM plans to continue building Volts with the same battery, a modified LG Chem battery, or a new battery. Transparency was greater and information was released earlier by the NHTSA. Legislators should be able to exercise their oversight powers.

I believe you mean the Bolt, since the Volt is out of production.

aren't some of the bolt fires caused by cheap aftermarket evse's?

From what I have heard, the faulty batteries are the main focus.
Electrical issues are always a possibility if fires, so I wouldn’t say none of the fires were caused by bad wiring, but I haven’t heard of it.

The current fire recall is due to a couple of manufacturing defects in the batteries. I haven't heard of any going up from cheapo EVSEs.

The resurrection of this dead for nearly a decade thread is a double irony. Originally it was about fires in the Chevy Volt. Now... fires happened in the Bolt too? It's a battery manufacturer thing in many instances. the same LG battery type used in the volt/bolt I believe are in our Chrysler Pacifica plug-in - which by no small coincidence have experienced a dozen or so fires with the 2017 & 2018 year models. Some of the fires happened while just driving down the road, some while just parked. charging or not. To add insult to injury - the test to figure out whether your particular ride is one of the rotten eggs takes a couple days. Many of the tests are done wrong and have to be redone and it's up to the manufacturer to browbeat these rotten service centers. Trying to estimate the percentage of battery packs that have to be changed out (online pole) - it looks like it's <10% that are subject to having this same catastrophic failure. Looks like LG needs to get their $h1P together.

There were like 19 Bolts that caught fire. No fires since GM has been replacing batteries. My Bolt got a new battery with greater range and a warranty that started over again.
