Correct, the low and high are different bulbs. Changing to highs to LED would match the color, but pretty much render the high beams useless, as most LED bulbs don't offer enough light output.

I didn't know that. I'll look into that. The second bulb just died today. I had bought the Ultras exactly 4 months ago.

Did you block the cutouts for the squirrel finders? The cause of the square patterns of light above the lowbeam cutoff?

With HIDs the glare from the squirrel finders are supposed to be quite bad since the HIDs are 3x brighter than OEM halogens.

Did not block anything. Just put the new bulbs in and have perfact bright white light. Love them. No one has flashed me for headlights being to bright.

Sylvania warranted my first set of H11 Ultras, and sent me new ones for free in about 3 days. However I decided to just put in H9s and save the Ultras for my other car.

I just did the H9 mod yesterday. It took 2 Minutes per bulb. It took much longer to just get the old bulb out of the passenger side than it did to modify the bulbs.

I used a pair of tin snips to fix the mounting part of the bulb and used a "micro flush cutter" from Harbor Freight to snip the little plastic nub in the socket of the H9.

They are really great and really easy. Thanks for the input everyone!

Yep, the H9 outperform the "premium" H11 bulbs.

Got my German made Osram H9 bulbs for $8 a pair on eBay. At that price, I bought extra sets since both cars are H11 OEM.

I can understand the need for plug n play as well as I'm quite limited in my movements. I've got to find a mechanic around here that I can trust to take care of this car. I see a lot of things on this site I want to have done.

While you can definitely see the light coming off the squirrel finders, the intensity is quite low, almost to the point of being as bright as if you put an LED in the parking light.

You can see the rectangles if you're behind a car, but they're not significantly brighter than with halogen.

If you do want to block it, JB Weld and a pop can is all you need.

we're lucky with ours in Australia and Europe we have a little scroll button to adjust them on the fly. Very useful when at high speed on the freeway and you're unable to use the high beam. :)
