I drive gently and when I come home the HV battery is usually 1 bar from full. I would park it as such and put a battery maintainer on the jump points under hood, with anywhere between 2 A and 4 A range.

Absolutely. Use the jump points under the hood. Search around...there are some threads about it here.

 

Some chargers come with a quick-connect; installing one of those can make charger connection more solid/convenient. Depending on your circumstances might be worth consideration.

 

True. I use a quick connect on the 2012 Prius C two...because there are no quick connects under the hood ( at least for the 2012 model year. Apparently they added them later on ).

On the Prius V wagon ( and on our now totaled 2010 liftback ) I use/used the jump points under the hood.

 

With the near-constant connection and frequent connect/disconnect (of our garage queen...), I got tired of dealing with raised hood, precarious alligator clips, taking off the fuse box cover. Now I can just pop the hood, plug into the adapter, and lower the hood just to.

 

If you’re in the Bay Area, you could put it on Getaround and make a bit of money while someone drives it for you. Just disable booking after it is driven enough for any given month.

 

Yep..I agree...it can be a bit of a pain.

I suppose it is also possible to connect the adapter directly to the battery in the back....correct? That way you wouldn't even have to open the hood.
