"Will challenge what you know about hybrids."

Sounds primarily like a marketing slogan.

And it's probably not aimed at "us" the Prius Chat crowd, because what we know about hybrids is not typical and beyond the norm.

I expect improvement in the product. Because with every generation of Prius there HAS been improvement with the product. I expect that to continue.

To be honest, I'm NOT impressed with that commercial.

It hints far more about how Toyota seems to be intending to market this next gen Prius, than it reveals anything substantial about how the next gen vehicle is actually going to be.

I think we can rest easy that this go round we aren't going to get actors dressed up as fake tree's and bushes swaying to the Prius as it drives by....and it appears no folk music promoting it's "harmony with nature".

But I'll be curious to see the actual product itself. Not just blurred images of the tail lights swirling by a bunch of adjectives.

I wonder how much The Prius will of actually changed, vs. whom it seems Toyota wants to reach with it's advertising and marketing.

It's mildly interesting to me that in the press release, fuel economy is mentioned 3rd, and being "green" or ecologically friendly isn't even mentioned at all.

I have strived to reserve any judgement until I see it in person, and hear more about it "hands on".
But I hope I'm not disappointed, not so much in the product itself but what direction it seems Toyota is headed in marketing the Prius.
It really seems they are trying to reach a younger audience, maybe not as concerned with efficiency and clean emissions, as with looks and driving feel. Which while I have no problem if Toyota improves these area's, to me has never been a priority I've embraced with my desire to own a hybrid. But that's personal to me. I suppose Toyota has to try to reach people, and a younger audience that may want more than I have ever seeked in hybrid ownership.

We're seeing styling changes, I'll be interested as to how much change actually happens to things like suspension and the HSD system itself.

Damn. I have to go to sleep at a reasonable hour today as it's an early rise for me tomorrow. However, if I happen to be awake, I'll join in the stream.

 

Never heard of Periscope before, but then again, I'm not on Twitter. Does one have to have a Twitter account to access and view a Periscope stream? Even Google is confused about the answer to this question, as I found both answers (and one saying it recently changed, but only for the sources, not the viewers).

 

As tempting as it is, it will be way past my bedtime.
