Little drawer beneath the cup holders???

I use the drawer under the armrest for a cube-type tissue box. It stays open all the time, but it's really handy when you need one quickly!

 

That drawer is still empty. I have more space to store than I have stuff.

As for the "secret drawer" I keep my cellphone ear buds/headset in there... My upper glove box is full of maps and mini-roll of simple human garbage bags, the lower glove box only has my owners manual (in its leather toyota case)... I think that I am intimidated by all the space in that glove box... center console has all the little cards that were attached to everything in the car on delivery, the valet cards, carwash tokens, swiffer handle thingie, windex wipes, and cologne. the under-trunk storage has the original carpet floor mats, took them out before the car left the dealership... replaced them with all weather mats I ordered before delivery of my 2006 off of ebay for like $60.00.



So I think thatcovers just abut everything in my car....

 

My salesman, who has sold me four cars, did not know of the place in the glove box, in the rear of the box, that you can slide your manual down into, thus, giving you more space to put stuff in yer box.

As to the drivers side rear cubby hold, I gave that up for the XM tuner. I forgot that it was even in there until yesterday, when I was looking through my mother in law's new '06 Prius, and 're' discovered the cubby hole.

 

My dealer had a gentleman walk me through the finer points of the car: Nav, BT, the compartments, SKS, basically all the 'cool' stuff about the car. Very helpful.

I have yet to find a use for the secret drawer, I am sure I will find one. One thing I wish the car had (small pet peeve) is a notch in the center armrest for cables to run out, MP3, phone charger, etc. My magnum has this (as well as pen and paper holders on the underside of the armrest lid.

 

I used the drawer to discretely transport a portion of our cat's ashes, which were then scattered at my autistic sister-in-law's grave. Judy grew up with this kitty, and was exceptionally fond of her, so it seemed an appropriate thing to do.

I attended a family reunion (my side of the family, not Judy's) on the way there, and wanted to avoid the need to explain having a small zip-loc bag filled with white powder. I was pretty sure folks would have immediately leapt to the wrong conclusion. :blink:

 

Although I love Prius Chat I have very different political view points than most of the people who frequent the site. With that said, I have found the hidden compartment the perfect place to store my handgun (yes I have a concealed permit), the compartment is easily accessible, unknown to most people and it is a perfect fit for my KelTec P3AT. I suppose I am the only one on the site that uses it for that purpose.

 

Lately I've started using it as a pull-out mug holder. That is, after I bought a car trash bag-on-velcro so I could put trash in that instead of the secret drawer (it was always a pain to clean out since I had to reach in there instead of just dumping it).

One thing I've learned here on PC is that there are many different points of view with all the members here. The other thing I've seen here is a great tolerance and respect for each person's individual point of view....& you've obviously been here longer than I have.

You should find that there is a bit of a gap between the lid and the console itself. Plenty large enough to have wires pass through without pinching them. I have had my razor cord and my cellphone charger cord come through it without any evidence of damage.

In fact, the gap is big enough for a regular 3-outlet A/C extension cord to fit through and still wiggle around loosely. I do this on long trips to run power for my daughter's gamecube from the inverter I plug into the console's power outlet. And this is even with my PriusHoods leather armrest cover installed, which narrows the gap a little bit.

I keep my iPod in there when I park it. I work in a downtown area where there have been several break-ins and muggings. I trust my security system, but atleast the temptation is hidden. My boyfriends iPod was stolen out of his S-10 before christmas, they smashed the window and grabbed it, they didn't care about the alarm, people ignore them.... errr
I was going to see if once I got my iPod intergration, maybe I could connect the iPod through that compartment.. I think it would be a good place and out of the way, but didn't know if you could fish it up through there.
As for my trunk compartment I keep a can of that ice melt stuff, and a pair of gloves, in the big tray in the back I keep a roll of paper towels, an emergency roadside kit, first aid kit, a poncho, and emergency blanket.

Just don't do that and lock the car with the switch on the armrest before you close the door. This is pretty common for people who don't have remote lock/unlock fobs on their cars. A friend did that and had to go find the spare fob.

I just tried this. The door unlocked when I shut it, even though I used the switch on the armrest to lock it. I don't know how it could be common, or even repeatable.

For extra credit, I did find an area inside the car where the car would think the key was outside the car. If you locked it then, and then the key fell so that the car now knew it was inside the car, then I could see how it could be possible.

No, you're not, it is perfect size for a number of small automatics.

 

I use it for pens and dental floss! and lint removal sheets since I have animals
