@Salamander_King I don't really know, I don't ever worry about it either with my single cells or my tool packs, I always have backups available. One trick is to know when you can use non-dimpled anodes as opposed to the regular batteries with the bump on the positive end.

@tochatihu yeah, I think the going rate for a healthy 18650 is 60 grams. but I'll have to google it to make sure

this looks about right to me:
What’s The Weight Of One 18650 Cell? Will 18650 Cells Be Explosive? - News - Center Power Technology Co., Ltd
    Weights of 18650 cells

The weight of 18650 cells with 1000MAh is around 38g while it’s around 44g for that with 2200MAh.

So the weights have something to do with the capacities.

However, we cannot say the certain weights for the specific capacity. Since the qualities are different in different factories of 18650 cells.

Let me guess what that video shows 1800mah true capacity.
beware of no name 18650 that claim above 3200 mah and aren't listed as high drain cells.

60 grams? Mon Dieu. No room to stuff that much sand in the package.

Is the pic I posted on #3 one of those batteries? If so, then yes I have used them. It works very well on high-power demand gadgets, but for low amp devise, it lasted just about as long as an alkaline battery. I have never tried keeping them for long-term storage. If it will last as long as alkaline, which is 10 years or so, or longer, then they are suitable for long-term storage. But at a higher price, it may or may not give me more value than an ordinary alkaline battery at present.

Not mentioned here and perhaps on topic, is that 12-volt Li polymer assemblies are much better and lighter than lead acid. Old hardware ( and old people who use it :) ) are pleased.

If I had one of the old style balances we used to use in science class I would be an expert by now at how much sand would fit inside a 18650 cylinder. I'd probably be thinking of a way to weigh a transistor from the samsung 5 nm CPU process found in the new filp phones, I think?
Apologies for the Detour. Hope it wasn't one of those that leads to a dead end. I really hate those kind.

#44: LiSOCl2 chemistry, 14250 (1/2 AA) package, SAFT branded (but that's just a shrink wrap). I buy lots on Taobao and discard about 10% after initial testing. 50 will run temperature humidity loggers across a landscape readers never heard of, for a year (maybe). Money spent by this country on this adventure will not be spent for military toys. A very small contribution...

But the real problem is shielding loggers from hot sun. OT here. OT OT OT.
