You don't need to disconnect the battery. They tell you to because incase you're using a test light and stick it into the wrong wire and fry the 2,000 dollar BCM. Besides, if you disconnect the battery how are you going to test the wires? It taps the same wire as the door light. pull the door light out and look at the wire color. If I recall, white with black stripe is ground. The other wire is the switch. I believe it's a red wire. pull the kick panel off. Use a multimeter and probe all the red wires that goes into the door. To test if you got the right wire, push the door pin.

robby818 did they charge you sales tax?

Yes, tax but no shipping. I ordered a rear bumper applique so the entire package came in a large flattened box (in order not to crease the applique). Nice.

Install went OK. I had a difficult time with the wiring harness on the passenger's side. The wires were tightly bundled so getting the T connectors clamped onto the correct wires was a challenge. Driver's side was much easier as some wires already had T connectors (fog lights?). It took about an hour because I was working slowly so as not to break any clips on my three day old Prius. Printed instructions were included, but I found the PDF that I downloaded from the PriusChat store more helpful due to the clear color pictures.

If you are only looking for protection and a little coolness on the door sill, I have seen a poor mans DIY ($25) non-LED version made from black kitchen toe-kick material or aluminum strips cut to length from Loews with vinyl decals added for that OEM look. The styles are endless, Google it. Very creative IMHO.

I ordered mine from the site bagwell posted as well. They were $150 shipped. Installation was a piece of cake; took me about 20 minutes. I didn't unplug the battery either. They look so awesome on my car!

I am so upset. After reading all of your posts, I decided this is one thing that I have to have. So, I ordered mine. We'll see how easy installation is. But all of those pictures sure looked good.

I just installed mine. I got it from a Toyota dealer on ebay for $155 shipped. The installation took 5 minutes. It looks pretty cool

So my experience thus far with these is, I ordered them from Toyota Parts Zone, along with the cargo organizer, because they were the least expensive ones for those parts at the time. The first thing that happened was, the cargo organizer came but no lighted door sills. I finally called and asked where my door sills were and they said there had been a mixup, they hadn't been sent out, would they like me to have my money refunded? I said no, send them to me. They sent them via UPS the next day, and when they arrived the box was pretty badly bent in the middle. I opened them up and the longer sills were bent about 30-35 degrees upward. I called them back, they said UPS would have to pick them up to see what the problem was. I called today and they said, oh yeah, the parts guys tell me there was nothing wrong with them and we don't want to have this happen again with UPS (uh, what, nothing wrong with them?) so we're refunding your money. Mind you, my order was on May 15th and the original shipping date was soon after that. I was fairly surprised at the lack of response once they had gotten the parts back, considering that was a couple of weeks ago now. Part of the delay was me being out of town for quite a while, but that was before the parts were sent back.

I've just ordered them from bagwell's suggested site, we'll see how that pans out.
