Thanks crebble for the link and coupon code!

I watched some of those installation videos on the xenonsupply.com site and think this is something I could do by myself. But then I started reading that HIDs are illegal if they are put on aftermarket? Seems weird considering almost everyone on this forum has them on their Prius. So wondering, what is the likelihood that I would be pulled over for having them in? I was looking at the 6000k. I read that if they aren't pointed high then you're not likely to be pulled over and since the Prius is such a low car to begin with will this be okay then?

I really want to get them but I don't want to be pulled over.. So any advice will be great! Thanks! Answers before the end of the day will be even better since the coupon code expires tonight ;)

If you want to reduce the likelihood of being pulled over for HIDs then stick with a 4300K bulb or a 5000K bulb. You'll benefit from a brighter light as well as get rid of any blue which is a dead giveaway for an aftermarket HID kit since all the ricer kids, including the truck crowd, use 6000K or higher rated bulbs. OEM HIDs are 4100K-4300K.

Aiming the headlights correctly is important for safety as well as legality. The only problem with HIDs in the Prius is the upward bowing (think smile) of the cutoff beam. This casts light about 2ft. Higher than the normal cutoff and into the eyes of oncoming drivers. For this reason it is critical you ensure your headlights are aimed correctly.

Yep, I always use a 4100-4300K HID kit when adding HIDs to cars that don't come stock from the factory with them. I have never had a problem with being stopped because of HIDs.

So as long as I have the headlights aiming correctly, I should be fine right? I didn't know that about 6000K bulbs when I ordered right before the coupon expired.

Aye, just be safe and make sure they are not aimed too high. :)

If you don't like the blue tint of the bulbs you can change them out whenever you feel like spending another $40 buck or so. The bulbs are not specific to the kit.

    Very clean install (y)

I just placed an order for the Prius H11 package from XenonSupply.com. We'll see how this goes; I've yet to read any negatives from them.

To be honest I'd love to see an H11 LED bulb with proper illumination, but haven't seen the aftermarket catch up yet. LED arrays that can be used for forward lighting are certainly out there and starting to proliferate OEM applications, however the aftermarket support may get the shaft until the arrays can be made modular enough for halogen replacement footprints.
