Would be better to strip off a little bit of insulation (without cutting wire) and solder and tape. But that's not 100% water proof either

yea...i think the best would be scotch locks tho, then get some protection thingy over them to make it waterproof, some kind of seal.

Hi guys. Working on swapping the 2014 LED headlight on my 2011. Decide to make my own harness. Just need a little guidance. This is the back of the LED headlight harness I cut up.
    Black: LED (-)
    Red: LED (+)
    White w/black stripe: parking/v-strip (-)
    Green: v-strip (+)
    Yellow: parking (+)
Blue: what is that and what can I tap that in with or leave it hanging???

Blue is a data wire for the headlamp computer to talk to the display on the dash and tel you if a headlamp is out. There's nowhere for it to go if the car came with halogen headlamps.

Wire the LED strip just like a bulb, + and -. If you have a retrofit harness, both headlights should plug right in to your car. The ballasts are different and have different plugs inside the headlight though.

I don't know that it's 5 watts however it takes power and ground just like a regular bulb.

And yes, that third LED is to cover the gaps in the beam pattern from the two projectors, or so I've read

but my question is then... why dont the facelift version got that? thats what i find weird... cause for what i have seen the two projecters r exactly the same in the facelift and the 2011. But they dont have that upeer light thingy that u said where for filling the gap (which actually makes perfect sense lol) but yea..

and i would imagine the strip thingy to be 5 watt as the T10 bulbs u put in there on the 2011 version. I coant imagine them changing out the whole wiring net and power and stuff just to power the LED strip if that makes sense.

I think the strip is less than 5W since 5W is a lot of power for LEDs. But yes the original T10/194 bulb is probably 5W

The facelift model is more blue to. More like 5500k instead of 4300k of the 2010

Yes I believe you are right, it is different. I like the later one better.

Hi guys. I’ve purchase a set of PIP OEM LED headlights but without the ballast. I’ve been looking up on eBay with the keywords “
85967-30070” but only comes out with a few listed. I tried to look it up online too n some sources directed me to the Lexus parts department. Just wondering r they the same? Which keyword should I search in order to give me more results on the ballast? Thanks guys

Discount parts monster dot com is where I went. It is a Lexus part for half the price of the Toyota Prius part.

Thanks for the info. I’m planning to build my own socket to plug into the headlights. Thanks to your video but I would like to ask, 82998-12440 seems like the part number for the terminals. Just wondering if there is a cheaper way to do that? Such as buying the head only n use my own wire? Thanks

It has to be those terminals. I never said they had to be new though ;) a lot of other connectors of different sizes use those same terminals and you can cut them off something at the junkyard (like a non-hybrid Toyota, a Subaru, etc).

    Great!!
Let me source down which plugs can I cut from the junkyard lol
Since mine was a 2011 with halogen, I’ll just need to modify my parking lights socket into that triangular socket (or any other 2 holes socket) n leave my side marker socket hanging?

Or maybe the metal clip is the way to release the bulb socket n become the triangular tab? Lol 65FCBE00-F34E-4A37-BCC2-CCDA6BC007F5.jpeg
