well those without foglights can use the foglight area to house some LED strips.

^ True. I was looking at those replacement LED turn signals with DRLs but after seeing how much they cost, I lost interest.

Spiderman-Looks great! What was involved in activating the built in LEDs at the top of the headlights? Thanks for your help!

    Hi Carl,
Ah those dimples in the headlight are not LEDs... just decoration. Some on the forum have removed the lens (you have to bake it off) and replaced them with actual LEDs. I didn't want to do that.

I did replace my parking/marker light with an LED bulb however. The W5W bulb just fit in because it was rather tall.

Nice job - it looks really good. Too bad that in the EU if you do something like this you need to get it approved by the traffic authorities or risk getting pulled over for driving a non-EU conform car with non approved lighting....
Regarding pic 1 - now I know why the windshield wiper fluid storage would take so much of it and why it can freeze in winter - it is exactly behind the bumper (where else??) and far from the engine (that runs pretty cool in any case...).

    Thank you.
Yes, that is what Paja mentioned too. Too bad, sounds very restrictive over there. To be honest there are many rules over here too but are not actively enforced. In fact someone mentioned that HIDs where not allowed here (Alaska) but I would say about 50% of the cars have them.

just a warning....if you really had to push W5W bulb in there and its making contact with the inside of the clear part of the headlight, the heat from the LED bulb may damage it....trust me I know!!

    I used something like this..

^ The bulb is very close to the lens but I think there is still a small gap. I will keep an eye on it though, thanks. What happened in your case?

it appears as though inside the lens is oozing some type of oily residue as a result of the heat buildup.

Dude, the link is broken. Glad you got them installed. How far did you wrap them around the side??

Edit... the link works now. Looks grand.

I think if we install the DRL LEDs inside headlamp housing, no body will find it as illegal. The bad thing is the voiding of the warranty for headlights. The dissasembly of HL housing with so complicated curved shape (oven method) will not be w/o risk. Headlamps are quite expensive parts to test it :(. I didn't notice any guide for successfull Prius HL disassembly yet.

Is this install possible without removing the bumper? Those look mighty awesome!

Unless you can remove the headlight housing without the removing the skin... It appeared that might be possible but I didn't bother determining that when I had the skin off. Should have I guess.

    Thanks!

I didnt remove the bumper, just loosened each side enough to clean under the headlight and install the LED strip.
