I'm glad I found this because I was wondering what those aluminum wheels under the plastic wheel covers look like. I do not like all-black wheels and I like what Ragman777 did to improve the looks without spending much money. Making the outer rim polished aluminum would be a big improvement but that would be expensive or a difficult DIY project. Here is a suggestion: Paint a body-colored stripe on the outer rim. This would require some skill with a pinstriping brush but it would be easier than polishing the paint off the outer rim and, of course, it would not work on dark blue or black cars. Maybe a local pinstriping artist could do it for a reasonable price. I think it works well on this Diablo. Notice that his other car is a Prius. p.PNG

I'm pretty simple. When winter is over gonna put the factory 17" back on.

When it's winter the steel rims with the winter tires go back on.

Winter is rough on the wheels and steel rims are cheap to replace if a pothole or terrible ice chunk or snow drift hidden hazard causes damage. I'm sure they're heavier but that's fine. The alloy rims/wheels for winter were not that much lighter and they cost 2x as much. Maybe in the future if a wheel needs replacing i take the plunge.

Steel rims tend to very close in weight, or even lighter.

My wife hated the covers so replaced with aftermarket rims almost the same weight. The 17" alloys with cover was just over 19lbs and is the largest factor in gas mileage difference with the 19" on the XSE. The stock tires fit the new 7" wide rims and looks much better. There were a few others that looked arguably better but 4-5 lbs heavier. Happy wife, ....

I was able to find a set of 17" wheels and tires, take offs, on a facebook group. "Toyota Prius 2023 PHEV (5th Gen)" . Paid $650.0 for the four of them with covers. Don't know if this was a good price or not. Needed one for a spare on my '24 Toy XSE .

Got them up here in Canada, "Canadian Tire" on sale for $600 cdn. Many similar styles on Tire Rack but check the weight and offset so that the do not stick out too far out. Most 17" rims were also 7.5" wide: too wide for 195. I wanted to minimize impact to the gas mileage, although 205/215 would handle better.

wow good to know! 19 lbs is very good. Gotta go with forged to beat that. I decided to stay with OEM rims then. Money saved. Thank you sir.

For those that have a XLE/Limited, Toyota is charging ~$387 for the 17” OEM alloy wheel that comes with the LE, and that doesn’t include the wheel cover LOL.

The first batch of Prius PHEVs (no none PHEVs will be sold) are arriving in the UK in June or July in two versions, Design and Excel (NO options apart from colour. I have chosen Metalic Silver). I have ordered the former which comes with 17inch wheels with covers. Not particularly excited about the look of the covers. Is there any better looking after market covers available? If I decide to remove the covers to reveal the black alloy wheels beneath where do I get the Toyota badges to cover up the centre hole?

    Thanks in advance.

I apologize if this has been asked and answered. What is the correct size of the center caps for the 24 Prime SE?- There are many on Ebay, either 57 or 62mm (outside diameter, I believe). Somebody had posted a Toyota part # above, but I'd rather not pay the extra premium. Thanks
