I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather.. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

With hand on heart I'm sure many of us have been there at one time or another. Best stick to that promise from now on!

Yup, most of us who have driven 10 years or more remember the one time we fell asleep at the wheel...if we are lucky. Mine was with a newborn in a carseat in the front seat... back in 1988 on Interstate 40 in Tennessee going 75mph or so between Wash DC and Little Rock. Luckily I woke up in the nick of time and lived to tell about it. Won't do that again. I pull off and check into a motel if necessary. It is much better than dying at a high speed like many of my late friends. And I find that driving over an hour at night is not a good idea any more. I feel much more competent as a daytime driver. On a laughing matter, when we test drove a 2017 Four about six months ago, it gave me the "it is time to stop for coffee" message one minute into my test of the lane warning system. Thought it was hilarious as I cross over lane markers all the time on our hilly, curvy roads. But am glad I have it. It helps me focus more on the road.

All this stuff works most of the time. Sometimes it is picky on the stripe in the road and the distance to the stripe. Anti-collision works. Radar speed control works.

Almost the safest car you can buy except self driving which is next for me in a few years. Still pissed about the lack of rear pedestrian warning. Your bumper and neighbors children have value.

    To lawyers.

Agree on the lack of rear pedestrian warning. Especially when it is rainy and your camera lens are wet and no help. This can't be that difficult to add, can it? Just like FINALLY getting the LATCH system for quicker installation of car seats in the back. That took forever.

Thanks! The 2012 Three in the rear arrives in San Jose tomorrow. So we are down to two at home. I am waiting in San Jose to receive it, and may post info on shipping a car... after it arrives in one piece. We are happy that our two year old granddaughter will be riding in a safe car that is reliable. (And it is a thrill to know that no one in our family will be unnecessarily enriching the oil companies. Makes me smile every time I pass a gas station!)

Cross traffic alert warns of pedestrians approaching from each side when reversing.

Agreed. Mine even seems to suggest gateposts etc as crossing traffic. Have to say, the overkill isn't too annoying and better than no warnings at all!

Done several tests on this. It depends how fast they are walking, fat, or skinny, and are they wearing aluminum foil.
Mine is very undependable but cross traffic always works for hunks of steal moving off to the side.
People walking around the car going to the back are not detected in my experience. Have your wife stand behind the car and back up.

    There's a built-in feature for that - it's called the driver's eyes!

I seem to remember in the manual it says it doesn't detect things directly behind the vehicle only approaching from the sides, so it must only use the side rear sensors, the camera covers directly behind.

Yes it uses the same radar as the blind spot monitoring system. (Don't damage the rear bumper!)

    On is a good setting.

BTW/the tug on the wheel is speed related also. Most of the time but not all the time 45MPH has a very weak tug. 55-70 has a more robust correction.

I am in my third week driving my new blue Prime. The car was fully gassed up when I assumed command, and I have added around five gallons three times in about 3,000 miles. The machine is due now for another drink, perhaps requiring as much as seven gallons this time. The lifetime Mpg is reporting 101.2. This is exactly what I was hoping for (Nah, make that EXPECTING!)
I have decided to avoid ethanol like the plague, since I expect that my fuel may sit in the tank, being sipped on somewhat rarely, and the fuel separation issue may become a major factor in my case.
Am I being too paranoid about this?
I also am worried about the excessive engine wear that ethanol causes. I think it has been a major factor on my 2006 Prius with 285K miles on its clock. The engine sounds like a cheap sewing machine, and it digests oil like it's going out of style (about three quarts every oil change.) There are absolutely no oil spots on my garage floor.
Oh! I almost forgot why I am posting in this thread: I cannot get my vehicle to do any steering corrections at all. And when I turn the LDA off and on, the second sentence in the confirmation message says that steering correction is OFF. I have looked (fruitlessly) for the activation command.

Here in Minnesota, we've had mandatory ethanol blends for 30 years.

So when people make claims about there being a supposed danger, it simply makes no sense. With the entire population here using it for so long, how come none of our friends & family ever report any problems?

I am a retired EE, and I keep very close track of my machinery. My spreadsheet tells me over and over that when I am able to find some 100% gasoline (and use it for multiple consecutive tank fills), I experience almost a ten percent increase in mpg, even though Physics says the mpg hit should only be 5%. I also have friends that have had to rebuild their small engine carbs due to ethanol. I have not experienced the small engine problems myself, probably because I habitually empty my tanks at the end of each usage, or at least at the conclusion of the season.
