Oh didn’t realize this. I’m going to see if I can do a real test drive. They are trickling in. My indecisiveness is because there really isn’t an ideal hybrid available right now. I’ll most likely get the Prius but when I was shopping for a Gen 2 I had no doubts that it was the best car for me. I did have loads of questions but it was the perfect size and comfort level. I saw a picture of a Gen 5 Prius wrapped in your Prime blue color. Not my choice of color but thought of you.
You may find that there are low mileage Gen 5 primes available through local "for sale" advertisements. When I bought my first 2017 Prime I was vaguely surprised that the car had two previous owners. The mileage per day diary showed that the first owner lived in a small sea-side town and almost never drove the car. When he did drive it he did not go far. If he bought it to "save money" he would not see a break even point for a couple of decades. That same diary showed that the second owner drove the car once a week (or every other week) for a long distance. Chances are that he was not satisfied with a range of 30 miles on battery. He traded it in on a luxury sedan by BMW. I was aware of it's limitations, and was so impressed by what it DID do well that I traded it in on a 2024 Prius Prime this January. The Gen 5 model had the few extra touches that I wanted to have. I'm making another 1000 mile drive next week and I'm very happy to have this car to do it in.
I'll see your speculation ( prices are probably higher ) and raise you a barely relevant personal anecdote that resulted in my finding a used model that was only 2 years old with fairly low miles on it when I bought it. I don't have a poker face. If you go all in with actual facts and figures from current adds, I'd have to fold.
Production hasn't restarted yet, and the fix isn't rolled out to dealers anywhere yet (including in Japan, which would be first)
Visited the dealer today for an oil change after the road trip. No new Prius models and no new Tundras. Did see one used Gen 5 Prius on the lot. Later saw someone test driving it.
Deliveries of the first Priuses to the UK has, according to my Toyota dealer, been delayed until September. Not a surprise.
There’s an article suggesting it has been (Japan News) where did you see it’s not been restarted yet?
Its always been scheduled for the 17 of June to restart production. Toyota to Resume Prius Production on June 17 - The Japan News
