latest # of HOV stickers issued?

Yep, it's a gamble mainly because even though we know how many applications the DMV has processed (about 4,000 now), we have no idea how many applications are still in the queue, or how many "spaces" are available for new applications.

All I know is that on 10/30, 2,000 applications had been received and were in the queue as part of the next 10k.
From another forum a poster said that the DMV had received about 6,000 apps as of 11/21.

Maybe it would be good if anyone talks to the DMV that they find out how many "spaces" are left for new applications...

OK, I'm sweating at this point because I really want the stickers. Just got off the phone with DMV, spoke with someone in Sacramento who sounds like she knows what she is talking about. She says that as of today (12/14/06) they have about 5000 applications received that will be part of the 10,000 starting January 2 AND that they receive between 150 to 200 per day. So that would suggest that somewhere from between 2 and 5 weeks from now they need to receive the application, depending on how you count "per day" (weekday or 7 day) and 150 to 200 per day thing.... I don't think we are going to get any more precise than that...

 

First time posting here. I purchased an 07 prius for my wife which she loves and on 11-18-06 sent my HOV application to DMV. Just noticed my check was cashed yesterday, does this mean i've secured a sticker for my car?

10/31 Application received by DMV

12/12 Check cashed

12/16 Received the following letter from DMV (dated December 11):

"The Department has received your application for Clean Air Vehicle stickers for your hybrid vehicle. Unfortunately, the department has issued 75,000 sets of hybrid stickers, the maximum number allowed under current law (California Vehicle Code Section 5205.5).

However, with recent passage of Assembly Bill 2600 the law will change effective January 1, 2007, allowing the department to resume issuance of the Clean Air Vehicle stickers to an additional 10,000 qualifying hybrid vehicles. Your Clean Air Vehicle sticker application will be processed, and your stickers will be issued and mailed after January 1, 2007."

 

Sent in the Check Nov 10th, DMV cashed is yesterday. I assume that means there is no reason to worry. I wasn't too concerned that I would not get one, but I was concerned that the DMV never got it. I guess I am all set. Just have to wait for January to get the stickers and save me a lot of time in driving!

 

11/03 - Purchased Prius
11/10 - Received plate number from dealer & sent application
11/13 - Application received by DMV
12/19 - Check Cashed!!!!!

No letter saying my stickers are delayed yet, but I'm oddly glad they cashed the check!

Bought my 07 on 11/13. Received plates on 11/21. Sent app on 11/22. Nothing more. Some people are confirming DMV receipt of their app before the check clears. How can I confirm receipt of my application?

 

I just got my Prius, now I have to wait for a license plate before I can apply for the stickers. Oh well.

Can someone help me with filling out the form? I printed the dmv application online, but it seems to have printed a duplicate form on one page. Do i fill out both and submit both identical forms?

YodaddyAlex - I filled in both forms (just in case) and sent it in. I have no idea why there are 2 forms, maybe just to save paper so that if there are multiple applications or something. But I definitely didn't want the DMV mailing me back saying I forgot to fill in the "second" form for some crazy reason, then have to wait for another month!! Maybe someone else can shed some more light on this...

fathale - when you send in the application, use signature confirmation from USPS (or similar confirmation), then you know exactly when the DMV has received the package.

Prius07Pkg4 - same timing as mine!!! Woot woot!!

stomsf - I feel the same way, weirdly happy. Happy my application was actually received, was processed, and that the main reason I bought a Prius wasn't totally in vain. I don't actually have the stickers in hand, but just knowing that I made the deadline is very gratifying, especially if they don't legislate any more stickers after the 10K.

Just got a letter from the DMV three days ago stating that I will receive my stickers after the 1st of the year.

I won't be moving back to CA until March and until then I'm stuck with my Florida plates and HOV Sticker. Anyone know about the chance of applying now for a later date? Do I need to change plates then and everything just for the stickers?

HOV stickers are issued only to cars registered in California. Once you have established residence in California, the law requires you to register the car here within 20 days of entry or residency to avoid penalties.

all i know is my sticker number is > 80000 and i got them a month ago or so, no letters saying i had to wait until the new year

I hope I get the stickers, mailing the form out tomorrow, but with no license plate number listed... *fingers crossed*

I rarely use the freeway because I have a short commute to work, but it would be nice to have them, about 1% of the reason for me. this car is just amazing in so many ways

 

So long as you list the vehicle identification number (VIN) you should not have to wait for the plates to arrive before applying. Good luck.
