Sorry for not checking back in sooner.

Good news! Problem solved with my shocks popping.

I took it to another mechanic and the guy figured it out in 10 minutes. He just compressed each shock/strut by opening the doors and rocking the car side to side. You could clearly hear a noise coming from the driver's rear shock. We then put it on the lift, he took the bolt off the bottom mount of the strut so it wasn't connected, we rocked the car again and no more sound.

So I got a replacement from Koni for $100. I sent the old one back, the confirmed it was faulty and refunded the $100. I asked that they refund me the cost of labor for replacing the shock but they refused. That now reminds me, that's why I didn't post on here. I was going to threaten to report on this forum how they wouldn't reimburse me and hope they'd send me a check... Oh well, guess I didn't go that route and the cat's out of the bag.

So that stinks that you have the same problem BluePrius. Oh and guess what, another individual on this forum sent me a private message, also with this problem!

Seems they need better manufacturing test!

I do love how they ride though...

Maybe if you had compressed them by hand before installation you might have been able to detect a problem? Just a thought.

Sounds like a good practice solrunner. I didn't install the myself but I'm never going back to the mechanic who did the installation as he didn't notice the problem and then couldn't diagnose it in 2 return visits.

So are there issues with these Koni struts / shocks ?

I was interested until I saw these issues that just came up.

Any feedback from those that have installed them is greatly appreciated.

Wanted to install these on a Prius 2013 with TRD springs.

Ive had these installed for the last 40k miles. No issues with them. I've got them on Eibach springs. On my stock struts my car would hop on huge dips. The Koni FSD it will jump but the struts are quick to bring the vehicle back down to earth. Yeah I know why am I driving so fast over dips. Bay Area freeways are notorious for bad road conditions. Lately I've been getting minor noise in the rear end but thats related to my end links on the rear sway bar. I never replaced them since I bought the sway bar 100k miles on the end links cracked and tired.

@Joele3, I see that you’re in the Bay Area. Where did you have them installed? Would you recommend the shop? Was the price reasonable?

I did the installation myself. I remember reading a place in Fremont did another members spring installation. Price was very reasonable. I felt like I should have taken my car there vs having go Autozone and rent the spring compressor. I'll see if I can find it. I cheated and I cut a hole out from the rear panels in the hatchback for access to the nut for rear shocks. 2012 and newer prius have a panel there. 2010-11 don't have the panel. I just cut and purchased a panel from dealer so it can cover the hole vs having to remove all the trim.
