In general terms, the automatic transmission is a reliable piece of the modern car's drive train. Take care of it, and a major issue should be as likely as one occurring in the engine.

Examples can be found saying otherwise, but modern cars are complicated things in the whole. Taking solace in the fact that the PSD is mechanically simple isn't going to help a person that just stranded by the Prius' inverter or software.

Just being a first year model is enough of a reason to wait on an Ioniq or Niro, regardless of Hyundai's past with DCTs. The same even goes for the Prius and Camry.

Anyone know if they are selling the plug in version in the midwest? Would be perfect for a friend of mine that I'm hoping will get their feet wet into the EV world.

Just looking to start a conversation with them about what they do and don't like...how it compares to other vehicles they've owned, just basic stuff like that. Do you own one Andy?

Yes, if you’ll notice my Avatar you’ll see I have a 2017 Prime. If you bring up The Prime on the top bar, may have to go to Prius plug in then to Prime. There will be a load of multitudinous comments, likes , dislikes etc. My comments are already inserted.

@Bluecar1 has an Ioniq, and can direct you to an active forum for these models.

Is it safe to say this review came out prior to the Mitsubishi plug-in Outlander? The reason that would be assumable is because it doesn't compare or contrast the two. Or is it because the Nero is considered to be a class smaller?

More likely a because of the class thing. The Outlander is quite a bit bigger and gets far worse gas mileage on gas only.

My guess is that they wanted as much Li-ion capacity available for plug in use.

Like the Ioniq PHEV, it is going to have the ICE come on more often than most other PHEVs available. Thus more waste heat from the ICE. There is still a benefit to having a heat pump, but you do have to pay for it, and under cutting the others was more important it seems.
